Ramblings

So, I've actually run out of things to do at the museum right now, so I decided to actually update my journal for a change.

As mentioned above, I've been working at the museum on campus since I got back from Topper. It's been pretty interesting...we're putting together an exhibit on South Carolina's impact on Presidential politics through the years. Its nice to finally be able to see how an exhibit goes from an idea into actual practice, though if I read or edit my script (i.e. what I put on the text panels) one more time I'm gonna kill something. We start installing in a few weeks, so that'll probably be hectic. My funding from the museum has now run out though, so that makes me a very sad panda. :-(

Also been doing lab work for the Prof. in charge of Topper, as well as working on my thesis. I though summers were supposed to be relaxing? Somehow that stack of books I need to read has not been diminishing by itself, so I suppose I need to work harder at that >.< On the plus side, I've managed to get some of the surveys I need regarding archaeology and the public out and answered, so that's good. I just wish people were better at responding to email. I have things I need, and people keep putting off writing me back! Bleh!

On my off time I'm trying to get back in my creative swing. I managed to finish a Zelda wooden plate where I've burned the items from Twilight Princess around the edges (like the inventory screen on the game) with a large triforce and the master sword in the middle. Yes, I am a geek and a nerd. If I get a chance, I'll post a picture sometime. Still trying to decide if I want to paint, color with pencils, or just leave as is. I also really need to start on some more arrows if I ever want to be good. I owe some art to people, so I need to get my lazy butt in motion!

I haven't had a weekend to myself in the last few weeks. That hasn't necessarily been bad (its usually been taken up by fun stuff) but I so miss just being able to CHILL. This weekend we're going to my parents house for a party with Robbie(Kiro)'s family. They're coming down from Ohio to drop his brother off for school, and also for a chance for all of us to see his father before he heads off to Iraq. I still don't think its really sunk in yet. Anywho, it'll be great getting to see everyone. That Wednesday we'll be going to Sumter to visit his grandparents and see more of his parents. Yay ^.^

Other than that, just been awaiting the start of a new semester with much trepidation. I get little enough done during the summer, how the hell am I supposed to finish a thesis and do classwork? If you need me after August 21, I'll be that little puddle of stress in the corner. :-P
