What went down!

I had a good time this last weekend aside from the driving in a non air conditioned vehicle in hundred degree weather. The drive to Vegas and back actually only took 3.5 hours each; not bad! Adam's car did not like the increase in elevation though. I'd go to pass someone and then BAM, the car starts losing power. That was annoying.

So we got to Sunset Station around noon on Saturday and since it was early for check in we decided to grab lunch at the buffet. It was great but I've determined it's pointless to go to a buffet anymore; I can't eat like I used to. I got one plate of food and then tried for some fruit but my stomach was like, "Hellz no!" I didn't even eat everything off my plate.

Note to self: never eat tamales from a buffet.

So we went to check in around one something. We were given a room on the 19th floor which was actually rather large. I was surprised 'cause even my room in London was a closet and I spent easily over 100 bucks a night on that. Go Vegas and their large rooms for cheap. So after getting settled into our room I played around online a bit and then took a nap.

Around 7:00pm we met my parents in the casino and hit up Hooters (which they have at Sunset Station; YAY, I KNOW) for grub. BTW, fried pickles are actually quite tasty. Then we let Mom gamble a bit. When she was finished we hit Auto Zone for a headlamp and then hit Barley's for a pint. I had a vanilla porter which was dark, smooth and had quite a strong vanilla taste; it was different.

The next day I woke up at a random hour but then fell back asleep a couple hours after. After getting ready we went down to the Starbucks in the casino for breakfast. Then we checked out and went to Adam's car to change his headlamp. Right as Adam finished with the headlamp my Sister, Brother-in-law and nieces showed up. From there we went to a party supply store, got balloons for Grandpa and then headed over to Green's (good thing Kim and I know how to get around Henderson).

Grandpa was surprised but figured something was up with "all the secret phone calls." We gave him an Ohio State Fossil watch and wallet or "billfold" as he calls it. A bunch of people from Ohio sent cards together for him and got him a Best Buy gift certificate. It was nice! After lunch we headed across the way to their condo and hung out. We talked about various things and eventually my parents and my sister's family decided to his Sunset Station for some gambling. I passed out on Grandma and Grandpa's couch and Adam decided to read some (we were quite adamant that we didn't want to gamble any). Mom and Dad came back around 6pm and from there Adam, Mom and I took off for home (Dad was staying for the "Money show;" some convention).

It was a long drive but since the sun was mostly out of the way it was much nicer then the drive up. I was fighting to stay awake for the first half of the drive but once we hit Barstow I was able to actually listen to the radio and sing along which always helps keep me awake. We dropped Mom off at her House and then went Home ourselves.

That, in a nutshell, was my weekend. If anyone ever wants to hit Vegas I'm a great personal tour guide; know my way around there like a local. Helps that I've been going there multiple times a year since I was nine. I love knowing the back routes though.
