Written for Bruce's birthday, and posted a little bit early so I can celebrate it with
starsandsea :D
I tried to do a '5 times...' but failed at the last one, so it's a '4 times...' fic. I think it works fine as it is anyway! Beta by the team beta

Happy birthday to the Big Bad Bat! *twirls happily*

Wrong! :)
Tears of happiness, mind you.
A voluntary proclamation of who he belongs to for anyone who can put two and two together.
Oh, the sexiness of Bruce making an olfactory announcement of his commitments! I can hardly stand it, it's so awesome. :)
Time isn’t cowardly and superstitious, but it too bends down to the will of Batman.
*nods* If Batman's going to commit to someone, he will find time for that person. Somehow. It might not be in the ways people usually assume, and it might take a special person to appreciate it, but it'll be there.
There’s a backup AC adapter for Clark’s laptop on the second drawer...
Uhhh. I'm terrified at what it reveals of me, Mina dear, that every time I read this phrase I start to cry. It's just...so telling of all they are and the spaces they have for each other. It's a very meaningful thing to have space for someone's laptop in your workspace, and I found it amazingly moving. Of such small but significant details are relationships truly made.
The Bat spills over the domains of the Man, uncaring, unconcerned. No one Bruce doesn’t trust will step into his sanctuary.
The image of Bruce asleep in bed with bits of Bat paraphenalia scattered carelessly around, and Clark watching, is just beautiful.
“Clark, are you trying to drive Alfred insane? Don’t put your boots on top of your uniform, I don’t care if it won’t get dirty anyway, I will never hear the end of it. There’s a perfectly good place under your shelf for the boots.”
I like to imagine that's exactly how Bruce lets someone in (all the way in)--no trumpets, no fanfare, just "you're here now. It's nice to have you here."
He leans forward and types his secret key, unlocking the door for the first time.
Clark's secret key and the doors it unlocks gets me every time! *sniffles more* Such a beautiful last line, it resonates perfectly.

I'm sorry(glad?) this still makes you cry, in a shameless kind of sorry way :P It was fun to write, and Clark was really keen on saying his piece here. Bruce smelling like Clark was the bunny that started this story! such an odd place to start, but it was the thing that clicked and needed to be written, and everything else kind of just.. fit there too.
Batman commits like.. like.. a commitment machine. In my made-up world of Bruce being a decent mentor figure, he's also not an entirely sucky boyfriend :P Also, Clark knows what it is to make personal time from a harried life, so he's not going to throw tantrums about that, nope!
The laptop adapter bit! ...to be honest, that section makes me kind of sad for personal reasons that never occurred to me while I wrote it, and now they are coming to haunt me... I'm so happy the boys have found ways to let each other in, though! You're right, out of those little things are the bigger things built.
I like to see Bruce ease into things without terrible freak outs -I expect him to have his freak outs pre-relationship, even if that's not very believable! Just... without hassle. I write Bruce the kind of life I wish I had! no hassle in change, just gradual, comfortable small changes, one at a time.. *sighs*
I'm so glad you enjoyed, kitten! so very, very glad! Thank you for reading and the help with it :3

I'm coming to these comments like 2 days late now, but I don't think I've heard about this yet...*looks at mailbox*

I saw you mention that to Brady! *hugs* I'm sorry it's a personally sad section, but it's beautiful and meaningful and gah I'm tearing up woeeee... :) Oh romantic AC adapter, I love it so.
(As a side note, Clark seems to have a tendency to interrupt himself in mid-sentence and a tendency to address himself in the second person in his journal! I'm not sure I'm happy with his journal-voice, he sounds a bit whiney...but I just need to add one little thing and then I'll share it with you!)

With Bruce, I think it's very believable. I think Bruce would put off committing for a very long time, planning and worrying, and plotting out all possible paths a relationship might go in, and even freaking out...but once he was in, he'd be in for the long run.
*random hugs*
