Little Bee's Great Adventure, or, When Alan met Bruce, Part 2. G (855 words) arch_schatten October 27 2007, 19:44:25 UTC
He walked around the hall, trying to stay away from people and looking for his Father. Mother wanted him to come say hello to Mr. Drake, so there went the Gray Ghost in a secret mission to alert his Father of a secret visitor who carried Big News about the Jewels of the Crown.

"Bruce! Come over, son." His Father compromised his position, so the Gray Ghost stepped forward. No use to hide now. "Where is your Mother? Mr. Scott here would love to see her."

Bruce looked at his shoes. No wonder his Father had heard him coming, these shoes were terribly noise. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Scott," Bruce said politely in his Big Boy voice. "Mother is with Mr. Drake, Father. She wants you to greet him too."

"Nice to meet you, young man."

Bruce raised his eyes to meet the tall blond man's, his voice familiar. "I know you," Bruce said, a big smile on his lips. He tried to keep his composure. "I've seen you before."

"Really?" Mr. Scott asked, a kind smile on his lips.

"You don't know Mr. Scott, Bruce. You must be confusing him," his Father intervened.

"No, I know him. I saw him with Tommy in Metropolis once."

His Father frowned, and Bruce knew he was in trouble. "When did this happen, young man?"

"The day.. uh.. the day I didn't stay by the car," he confessed shamefully, but the presence of Mr. Scott was too exciting. "You were fighting a villain! Tommy and I chased after you."

"I'm sorry Alan. Bruce has a hyperactive imagination," his Father apologized for him. Bruce frowned. He wasn't lying. Grown Ups never said what they meant, but Bruce did.

Mr. Scott crouched, smiling at Bruce’s Father. "It's okay, Thomas. He has to make up for the dull party somehow." His Father turned around to look for his Mother and asked Mr. Scott to wait for him for a moment, and the blond turned back to Bruce.

"I'm not lying," Bruce said.

"I know, Bruce. So you saw me fighting?"

"Yeah! You were great! I told Tommy we should go back but then we saw you and there was a lot of broken glass and then we ran back to the Hotel," he told him in a rush, leaving out the part about being grounded afterwards.

"I see. You have to be careful if you're going to be chasing superheroes, Bruce. I'm... surprised to have to recognize me."

"Is it a secret? I can keep a secret."

Mr. Scott laughed. "Yes, son. It's a big secret. You promise to keep it?" Mr. Scott held out his hand and Bruce shook it, delighted.

"Promise, Mr. Scott."

"Great. Let's find your Father."

Bruce held onto Green Lantern's hand -Mr. Scott, he said to himself- and went to find him Mother. Grown Up Parties weren't as boring as his Mother had said.

Gray Ghost! Gray Ghost! *squees again*

Heeee! *pets little Bruce*

He wasn't lying. Grown Ups never said what they meant, but Bruce did.

*huggles little Bruce*

Mr. Scott laughed. "Yes, son. It's a big secret. You promise to keep it?" Mr. Scott held out his hand and Bruce shook it, delighted.

*glomps Alan*

Oh, Mina, this was just so perfect! Everything I could have wanted and more. :D *glomps you* Thank you so much!

Little Bee keeps himself entertained by making up grand stories about Gray Ghost. I mean, who doesn't? :P

Alan is awesome! I bet he was surprised to see the little rascal had recognized him, but serves him right for using just a domino mask. After all, Bruce idolizes him, of course he would recognize him somewhere else... right? ...maybe!

I'm so glad you liked it, Star! I was going to write them as grown ups but little Bruce was very loud in my head. "I wanna talk with Mr. Scott!!" so I had to let him :) Thanks for the prompt!

*supersonic squealing*

Oh, Alan is so adorable here! And I so love to think he's something of a friend of the family! *dies of joy*

I also love that Bruce can see right through it all at that young an age--too young to be fooled by masks, lol. *hugs him a lot*

Alan is made of awesome! I wish I gave him more screen time, but little!Bruce was a hogger, and this was already running long. Alan being a big industrialist and philanthropist in Gotham, I can only guess he was at least an acquaintance of Thomas and Martha -he probably liked Martha better, :P

And yeah! Bruce didn't even thought the mask was there to fool people, just that it looked cool. He was lots of fun to write! I'm glad you liked him :3

Little Bruce was a lot of fun, he had having crazy adventures with little Michael in my head after writing this. He's.. very vocal about how silly grown ups are.

And poor little Bruce didn't know Grown Ups never really make sense, so there isn't much to learn there. Then he grew up to be one of them, and fell in my hands, so now he's ruled by the Hand of Crack :)
