This made me smile to read all over again! Even though I must run to class far too soon and so this comment is a bit rushed! But I just love how the melancholy is there, not denied, not brushed away, but embraced and made into something to laugh about.

The butler’s eyebrows furrowed, his jaw setting slightly. To a less trained eye, it would seem like the man was impassive, but Clark was getting good at reading seemingly impassive men.

I just so love the image of Clark getting really, really good at reading unreadable people, hanging out with the Bats. :)

“With your sculpted musculature and your pouty, ‘I could do no wrong’ lips, and your baby blues. And your hair. Your raven, silky black hair.”

OMG, Clark's "Is this a reproach? Because it sounds a lot like a come-on" just cracks me up so much here. I don't know, I love how your Clark doesn't quite get Bruce sometimes, but he never lets that get in the way of understanding him at the deeper levels, and loving him so intensely.

Also, insatiable men from the stars is just one of the best phrases ever. All of Bruce's compliments were so fun and so very Bruce, just enjoying playing with the words and relishing Clark's discomfort.

“My pinnacle of anthropomorphic beauty,” oh man. *giggles*

And then I do love the last line for looping back around to a touch of melancholy, just a little, just enough to keep everything nicely balanced.

Could you tell I liked this one? It's such a nice little moment between two guys who mean so much to each other...

Busy Jen! I hope class is being fun!

I couldn't shy away from the midlife crisis, but.. I really do think it helps to know that you have someone to grow old with, even if Clark probably doesn't age at the same rate, it's not what matters there. Like, he has a lot to show for his life! so.. it's not all too terrible, even if the evil meat body starts to fail us... he can laugh about it because he's not alone, I think. Trying to see reason in such a crisis is not as important as trying to see hope and life and joy!

I think learning to read Alfred is like, the rite of passage for the Batfamily. You're either in or not depending on what your place relating to Alfred is!

LOL, Bruce's reproach was made of fail! I think Clark sometimes just lets Bruce 'run'. Sooner or later Bruce will come full circle and finish processing what he needs to process and make it very clear what he wants or needs. Then you can bargain and discuss things. In the meantime it's just going to be weird leaps of logic and grumbling. Seeing him run away with something is pretty fun, though! sexy, sexy thinking outloud.

I enjoyed making up endearments that were just a bit too out there! Animated Bruce is so into pet names it's weird (villains! he has pet names for the villains! so weird) but it's one of the things I like to steal the most! And I can imagine Bruce later thinking of different pinnacles of beauty that are not anthropomorphic. Cataloging is funnn :P

I thank you and Dan for the ending! I wasn't happy with it and you found a way to fix it :3 you're the besttt! I think Clark knows it's improbable he will live the span of his natural life, not with the job he has.. I can see how he fears he might, but deep down I think, after Doomsday at least, he finds some comfort in knowing he's not immortal. They were so rompy and silly and wistful here! silly crazy boys, I love 'em :) thanks for your help and the feeback, kitten! woot!
