Well actually...I haven't seen most of star trek (especially the original stuff)...it was probably pre-my sci-fi obsession in childhood...or it just wasn't on at times I was able to watch. I've seen just enough to know who Kirk, Picard, Data and Spock are (yeah, crines at the veritable lack of knowledge there). It's possibly a future thing for me to hit up as I rundown from the more recent sci-fi.
Freedom is glorious. It involves a lot of sleeping at inappropriate times and sitting in front of fans (temperature jumped from winter 20s to 30s in just over a week).
Don't think I landed the job, but I'll know by the end of the week.
Awwww @ star trek. That's about the only sci-fi I watch, mainly because it really amazes me how they apply actual theoretical physics to explain how stuff like warp drives and inertia dampeners work (is a semi-physics geek) Unlike, say star wars, which is mostly drama and fighting and action. And that star trek influenced the birth of ideas like wireless communication during the 60s where people thought it could never happen, and then jump 30 years after, you have cellphones. :)
I've heard good reviews about stargate Atlantis, though I haven't had time to watch it yet. Sell it to me! :D
Well, with the amount of job opportunities up there, I think you're bound to find one sooner or later. :D *waves pom poms in your general direction*
I'm okay. I lack sleep, but that's my fault for playing FF12 til 2 in the morning when my work is at 7 am. @___@ As for fandoms, Reborn took a backseat when I started playing FF12. :P
You know, i might just try it out for the hair-product peddling vampires. The whole premise of the series sounds terribly complicated and haha, your description of Rodney reminds me of my favorite characters. :P Time to find bootleg copies!!!
As for your FF12 query:
Technically, Vaan is the main character in FF12, in the sense that he's one you control when entering towns, and he's also the one you start the game with. But if you're talking about the main character in terms of the story's focus, then it's Princess Ashe (Her name cracks me up, I was half-expecting the words "I choose you Pikachu!" in some of her dialogue), since the quest essentially involves her struggles to reclaim her throne.
YES FF12 IS AWESOME. I love FF12 more than FF7-- and that is saying a LOT.
I'm not even sure if I can go back to Reborn, especially since I've been scouring the FF12 fandom too, instead of just playing the game. >.<
Heh...unfortunately the space vamps just aren't willing to sell any of their haircare secrets. the premise is pretty cool. Makes a lot more sense when you've followed the series on from SG-1...but I know a lot of fans skipped SG-1 and got hooked to SGA, so it's not neccessary to know the entire Stargate background to thoroughly enjoy the fun plots

Better than FF7 huh, that's pretty high praise. I don't have the gaming consoles so I don't follow game fandoms so much, but it's interesting to hear all the ranks people put on the games...especially when FF7 was full of pixel-men.
Well, there's mixed reviews on 12-- some people don't like the battle system and license board, etc etc, but I love it to pieces. Granted, I'm not a big fan of the materia system of ff7, and while the new streamlined system of FF12 took some getting used to, I find myself liking it very much. That and FF7 is not my most favorite Final Fantasy game, and there you go. The reason why FF7 is so popular is because it was the breakthrough game for the RPG genre, and it is because of it that so many RPGs suddenly came into existence.
Unfortunately as a few critical reviewers have commented, the show has some very interestign science...a lot of whichisn't necessarily realistic science, but hey it's what you get. It's the story and character dynamics that really play the show. Most of the episode plots are fun and/or action packed, adventurous and humourous. teh writers do a great job with the story pace, with well integrated humour into tense situations as it's called for...or altenratively spiral it downuntil the hopeful revelation. There are some slow episodes, some hard packed action, and some that attempt to get into your head. There's just so much about ther series to be explored and thus a greater range to appreciate and enjoy

I like FF12 more than FF7 because the gameplay and the story rivets me more. (I have a terrible affinity for political plots). Not to mention that I've become a rabid fan of a het pairing for it (where one of them is 12 years old, god, I swear I was a pedophile in my past lifeRE: ( ... )
