What's special about it is the way that the movie flows. Although the premise isn't original, the novel was actually written in the 1950's by Richard Matheson, who also wrote several of the original Twilight Zone episodes. It does have a similar feel to "zombie apocalypse" type movies and the people trying to escape New York reminded me of Resident Evil: Apocalypse. But overall, the tone of the film is incredibly creepy and it allows you to get inside of Robert Neville's head. It's as if you're experiencing what he's experiencing, which allows for a lot of intense thrills.

Cool. I read the book a long time ago and never really got into it. The previews looked good.

Helsing was pretty cool too. Like your Alucard icon.

As I said, it's quite different from the book, at least from what my friend was telling me. In the book, the monsters are vampires (thus the Alucard icon), but in the movie they're mutants with vampire-like features (fangs, bloodlust, can't survive in sunlight, etc.). The word "vampire" is never used, just like how the word "zombie" is never used in zombie movies.

And thanks! Hellsing is one of my favorite anime series.

Full Metal Alchemist is mine. You have got to watch it! It's awesume. Don't watch it on cartoon network though. They edit the hell out of it and show it out of order. Go rent it if you can find it.

Actually, I own the entire series on DVD. :) But I've only gotten about halfway through it. I'm waiting for when I can get together with some of my friends and we can watch the entire series + movie in a weekend. So, FMA is also one of my favorite series, but I haven't seen the entire thing.

Although I have all of Hellsing, I only have Hellsing Ultimate Vol. 1. I need to get the rest of it.

We need to all update our Zombie Plans with the discovery of this new fast-moving variety of zombies. :3

Well, they're a lot more like vampires than zombies. It's like combining zombies and vampires. They're genetically mutated and mindless, but they have classic vampire traits like bloodlust, not being able to live in sunlight, and enhanced speed/strength.

Also, in the book, they're vampires. But the movie sort of through that out.
