Surrender

The problem with having fallen in love is that it never goes away; it just sort of gets pushed back into dark reaches of your consciousness in a vain effort to forget. The problem with this, of course, is that when you see her unexpectedly walk through the library doors with a boyfriend following behind, the over flooding of stimulus distorts reality in a whiplash of several instinctive passions and your heart feels like it's going through a microwave. This alternate reality makes you think decisions like ignoring her and pretending to be too engrossed in your sociology text book are good ones, when in actuality your consciousness is screaming with desperate addiction to hear her speak again and the devil on your shoulder begs in a cold sweat for the tragic taste of those beautiful lips.

No matter how well you try to lie to yourself when it's all over, your mood will sour throughout the day until the final realization arrives: You can't conquer it.
