So I just came back from being staff photographer at the McGill Model UN opening ceremonies. It was sooo hectic in there! Thousands of delegates in the ballroom of the Sheraton hotel from schools over North America, professionally dressed in "Western business attire". Atrociously low lighting plus I couldn't get close enough for some of the shots I wanted to take. Need a telephoto lens! I felt self-conscious walking around the huge ballroom taking tons of photos, most of which will be blurry or weird coloured because I had to constantly adjust white balance.
I grabbed the perfect photo-op with the Princess of something-or-other (damn I can't believe I didn't catch her name when) who gave a great opening speech to the delegates on international issues and inspiring them to do something about it. She had great presence and passion. Unfortunately I couldn't just sit there and listen to her talk, because it was riveting. But after the ceremony, she was waiting in the hotel taxi entrance with two of her colleagues. I noticed and asked for a couple of pictures. Hopefully they'll turn out and they'll be published in the Model UN newspaper.
Phew! The stress of having to take pictures that are *good*. Haha. I'll post the best on my Flickr account, www.flickr.com/photos/areiyu.
