[The feed starts showing the sorcerer surrounded by a lot of cleaning supplies--brooms, mops, rags, dust pans, sweepers, feather dusters, spray bottles, you name it its there--with a determined look on his face and yet an oddly relaxed stance.]

All right. That's enough. [He raises a hand and his ring glows once more.] You've had your fun.

Now-- ( Read more... )

[Luke turns the video on, readjusting his sopping wet hat. He's both soaking wet and frowning.]

Will all the scrubbing brushes stop trying to scrub me now..?

Yes. The magic is dispelled.

...That was all magic? It was rather nice when they were scrubbing the floor two days ago..

[He's gotten a brief explanation of magical things before, but he still can't quite wrap his head around it just yet and therefore remains somewhat unconvinced.]

Oh! I've read a book about sorcerers before! It was about a guy named Merlin. I thought it was fiction, though...

[ooc: sorry Luke's annoying. He can't help himself. He's all kinds of curious.]

[He pauses, thinking.]

H-how would you know?

[Considers for a second. Ah, it's Discedo. Why not.]

Because I met the man.

[His eyes lit up, now with renewed curiosity. He might have not previously believed in magic. but he was still thirteen--therefore, the prospect of talking to a man who had met Merlin was still very exciting.]

Really?! How did you meet him? He's supposed to have lived hundreds of years ago..you certainly don't look hundreds of years old..

Was Merlin nice?

I am.

...yes, he was. [He is soft because of the memories, not because of Luke's quietness when he asked. His eyes close as he adopts a contemplative look.]

[Luke could tell he'd said something that made the other man think, and maybe not in the most positive or cheerful way possible. He bit his lip, scrambling for something to ask that wouldn't perpetuate the problem. Luke felt bad, since he knew the sorcerer's contemplative look was because of his questions.]

S-so..um..how does somebody get to live for hundreds of years..?

First-- [He holds up a finger, a bit of a gleam in his eye as he explains.] You have to have a wonderful and powerful sorcerer take you on as his apprentice.

Second [another finger] he has to cast an immortality spell on you so you can complete a very important task for him in the future.

That sounds very hard to do, Mister..um...actually, I don't we've met before.

But I have the great Professor Layton as my mentor! I don't think any sorcerer would want me. 'Cause I can't do anything magical, or anything like that.

Is it lonely to live for such a long time when everyone else...well...[He shuffles his feet, an action clear on the video as he tries to think of how to word his question] You know...everyone else doesn't?

Balthazar Blake.

You never know.

...What do you think? [His tone is not bitter or snide or anything--it's just an honest, thought-provoking question.]
