There are always things to be thankful for. Holidays like this celebrate the goodness and the mercy and the humanitarianism that are the only things that allow men to dwell in peace with one another. It's marvelous, really.

Did you hear about the one during World War II? The story about the American troops sharing Christmas with a group of German soldiers? Wrong holiday technically, but right message.

Yes, many of the older people in my town remember fighting in the war. They were rather fond of telling stories.

I rather imagine it was only a few happy stories that they told and embellished. And some wished to be certain that all of we children knew of the Blitz. So that it should never be forgotten.
