Friday at the County Fair.

I came back to the fair in the evening, as night was falling. I struggled with my dad's Canon DSLR, which seems to have an aggravating insistence on flashing. I hate flash so much. But there's no way to turn it off without having to go fully manual afaik, and light conditions were varying so much that I was spending entirely too much time fiddling with the settings between every shot. Ugh. I got a few cool photographs of the carousel:

Then I heard my name - and it was my sister-in-law's mom, smiling and pointing to where the kids were - I was happy to get to take some pictures of Sam taking a ride on the carousel - she's with my sweet sister-in-law in the first pic:

I'd been up to the 4-H exhibits earlier in the day, mostly to look at beasties. I also tried out a few color-saturated objects to tune up my camera settings:

Mmmm. Cotton candy:

This was my favorite ride when I was a kid, all the way up to high school. I loved that the swing actually went as high as I always wished the ones on the playground would go:

Here it is in the night light:

There were all manner of beasties:

There were piglets that were born Friday!

Winners of the Synchronized Sprawl:

And the runners-up:

Spooning Pigs:

There weren't many people in the afternoon, and the ones who were there were working:

Supervising:

Chilling out with their prize calf:

Young and bull-headed, meet... Young and bull-headed.

Practicing:

Lots of work and not a lot of sitting down, but evidence that it happens occasionally:
