Looking back at archives, it would appear LiveJournal is a place I visit bi-weekly, update monthly. So, here be it:
Tore down the cabinetry in our dining room, only to find there once was an entry way that joined the dining room to the living room. I promptly removed the obstacles that were blocking the pathway and now our two rooms have sort of become one! It's really nice to have the south sun shine into the living room via the huge picture window in the dining room. Still need to do some patch work to make it esthetically pleasing, but I like what I see so far.
Chickens for WinnipEGGers was busy in November. A group of students at the UofM wanted to do a documentary on backyard chickens, so they grabbed some video footage one morning at our home. I've lovingly nicknamed them the "EnviroKids". The documentary's done, and it looks great! We're probably going to mail the finished copy to each of the 15 new and old councilors of Winnipeg.
We also made a presentation for the Harvest Moon Society for one of their "InFarmation & BEER" sessions. It was pretty stellar, with Kara & I tag-teaming the presentation and showing a rough cut of the EnviroKids documentary. Kara loved being a part of the chicken thing, and that made me smile :)
Speaking of beer, I made one of my most best stews ever so far. That Guy Ferrili... guy, did a Dinners, Drives & Dives show on an irish pub that makes some pub favorites. Guinness beer stew being one of them. The Marion beer shop didn't have any Guinness on stock, so I substituted it with some Alexander Keiths dark, which is a little more robust than Guinness, but definitely did the job. The recipe called for 18 spices. I had 16 of 18 spices on hand, and kind of eyed them out. When/if I make the stew again, I'll use a little less clove. A little over powering.
Judah's up with the sickness. He's got either Foot & Mouth or Croup, neither one being the kind of party you want to invite your friends to. He's dealing with it amazingly well though, considering he's got blisters on the side of his tongue. Night time's kind of a nightmare around the Jones house though.
Christmas is less than 3 weeks away. We're having close to 20 people over for dinner on xmas eve. That's going to be nuts! And I'm working at Naleway caterers on all my days off from now till then, so needless to say, December's going to be hairy.
