About the whole Ronon/Caldwell thing, that was more of a joke, carrying over from "At Ease" where John has a thing for Ronon physically but doesn't want a relationship with him (because he is in love with Rodney), and John being tempted even though he knows it would be wrong. He doesn't actually sleep with Ronon! If he had, the story would have had to take a different turn, because again my John does love Rodney and does ultimately want to be with him. But he can't have/doesn't want to be in a relationship where the other person disregards him to the point that Rodney did. So in his mind sleeping with Ronon would have been cheating on Rodney, even though they were broken up.

I think a large part of the reason people felt the need to even write post-Trinity fic is because we *do* love Rodney, so rather than just blowing off his behavior in Trinity as bad writing, we felt the need to retrofit it into his personality and explain *why* he did what he did, almost as if to say he didn't mean it or he didn't know what he was doing. If no one gave a crap about Rodney or his motives, we would have shrugged it off and said 'typical SGA poor characterization' and moved on. And because of the way John and Rodney were acting like lovers in that ep, especially the way it seemed like they 'broke up' at the end, it begged for further exploration. So maybe I am being as condescending as John and Radek in my story by supposing Rodney just doesn't get it. I can't reconcile the Rodney in my head - who is *not* such an asshole as to completely blow off John's real concern for his life just to win the Nobel prize or whatever - with the Rodney the show gave me in Trinity, so I tried to come up with a way to reconcile the two. It's unfortunate that I seem to have undermined John and Radek's integrity in this attempt.
