How would you correctly punctuate the following sentence and why? (Referring to only one response from one guy.)

One of the guy's responses was a yes.

One of the guys' responses was a yes.

(P.S. This isn't a trick question.
I don't know the right answer and it's making me feel a little stupid. :-))
