You give love a bad name
Wow. I had the best conference with April I could have hoped for. She told me she was really proud of my work and thought I had a good work ethic, good attitude, and good approach to dance. The only reason I'm not performing a whole lot in YouthMet is lack of experience, but she wants to kinda throw me out on stage a couple times before the end of the year so I can actually get experience finally. The only things she told me to work on are gaining a stronger port de bras, extension, my feet, and just having a stronger presence (as Maria always says; my only quality is soft and fluid, and that comes across as shy and timid if the dance calls for more precise movement). Apparently, I had an amazing audition. So good that even Daryl commented on how well I did and April was amazed and kept being drawn to me. She also said she's really pleased with my progress in Dunham and that I have a really, really strong barre and just have to find my own voice in progressions, but that comes with experience. She said that, for where I'm at experience-wise, I'm doing amazingly well. Ee!
And! I'm going to learn Satisfaction and Read Matthew and Daniel and perform definitely Satisfaction and probably Satisfaction and Jump Up at the next informance. I'm going to fucking be in Satisfaction! I've wanted to be in that dance since...I was ten? Eleven? I don't know, but it's my absolute favorite.
I told her about Simon's Rock and she thought it was a great opportunity. Everyone's graduating next year, though, so they'll actually feel the loss of me (ooh, I feel needed). Ariel, Aureyl, Erika, Lance, Louise, and I think a couple others are all graduating, so YouthMet will move down a step to me, Lizzie, Della, Emily, Liz, and new fodder from the academy, so all the old YouthMet members are gonna be extra valuable as there's only gonna be a few with any YM experience.
I won't be able to not go back if I stay here next year. I know I'll end up there again, exactly like this year, if I go to OSU. So I hope to god that Simon's Rock will give me the AEP so I won't have to be forced to accept my fate.
But in the meantime, I'm gonna be a genuine member of YouthMet and in Satisfactionnnn.
Also had a great dinner with MrGale and mother at TGI Friday's. And a pretty good weekend planned. Ooh it's feeling better today.
