Checking in with Saba Doll, ep 7

Feb 24, 2012 21:46

So this is a 12 or 11 episode series, and shows of this type that have set up an episodic formula usually start blowing shit up with major plot movement and wangst to the end from around here, and the preview at the end of today's ep indicated that.

In other news, I am drowning in bias for this so very much. I haven't watched a single episode with subs, but I've still managed to connect with a lot of the characters, and loving the dynamics they all have with each other. This show is so. much. win. Even though it's episodic, every episode builds excellently on the dynamics, so I'm actually feeling quite anxious about the shit that will go down starting next week! This is unbelievable for a drama airing in this time slot, and being basically a Mayu acting vehicle the way Mendol was a No3b acting vehicle, but she's taken it by the horns and proven herself worthy of being the lead, and the rest of the cast seems too good for this time slot as well.

Or maybe my bias is completely blinding me and the badness is being lost in translation.

But I don't care. Squee is bliss, sometimes.

I do hope Mayu keeps giving us hair down and deeper voiced Mayu after this drama ends, though. Unlikely, given how she, KanaKana, Shawako, and even Kumi are ever more compelling for the dichotomy between their helium and natural voices, and it's no coincidence that all four have passed franchise-wide auditions to voice-act for the AKB (scifi genre wtf! :D) anime. But still. Mayu's not just a loli, she's ridiculously pretty.
