So yup, as alluded to in the small group of words that made up the last post, I have a job. Just in time too, as EI ran out with the last cheque I got got at the beginning of the month. We have one credit card and it still has a bit of room left on it, should get us food until Robin gets paid and then I get paid.
So I'm an apartment manager again. Managing the complex we've lived in for the last 10 months. 145 units, mostly one bedrooms, (less than a dozen 2 bedroom units, I think), really nice courtyard with a small pond and a weeping willow. And much better pay than the last time. And we get to move to a 2 bedroom suite (just in time for baby) and pay less than we are now for the one bedroom. The downside is that this building is an oasis (and not a well protected oasis) in an otherwise sketchy area. We have a high school next to us (we are protected somewhat from it by a stream) and an elementary about a block the other way and it is all pretty much a lower middle class neighbourhood so there is no lack of dysfunctional youth in the area. There is also a pretty obvious drug house across the street. So some problems, and it will be a challenge to keep the bad element out of the building, as usual. But we've lived here for 10 months and it hasn't been that bad. And I get high speed internet in my office so what else do I need right?
I'm still having fun working at the radio station. I haven't had a whole lot of time for the sales position. When I finish "training" for the new job I will have some slow spots in the day to work on the sales. But I was asked to take some stuff away from the overworked program director, so he he could get on with some other stuff. So I'm now co-ordinating all the overnight playlists and editing content for 5 hours of spoken word shows, and filling programming holes. And I'm on the programming committee, we review new show proposals and review the current shows for quality and content, and resolving disputes and stuff like that.
I'm also thinking of getting my own show. I think I could get Sat. morning 6 to 8am which is currently part of an overnight punk/metal playlist, but we are getting complaints about the harsh music in the early morning. I want to talk to ^kat^ (Kat K. not Kat S.) about maybe borrowing the Ecletic Cafe moniker for that project. Would be really cool if she could be my east coast reporter on occasion. I think I am planning too much for the next while, gotta keep reminding myself...baby...soon...baby...soon. Sorry, try not to read that out of context or it sounds like prOn.
Ok now that's a real post.
