Некоторый профессор из Чикаго попытался выяснить, почему ему собираются задрать налоги, если он отнюдь не богач, а просто живет своим трудом...

Разумеется, наши Швондеры быстренько обсчитали его доходы (они удивительно ловко вычисляют в чужих карманах) и решили, что он "занимает чрезмерную площадь". Они знают, сколько положено иметь рабочему

Actually, this law professor suggested a more heretical idea. If the taxes are raised, he'd let the help go as he wouldn't be able to afford them. The increased taxation is justified as a job-creation measure. To be such a measure, the government must create jobs (using taxes) more efficiently than people that are being taxed, as otherwise this approach cannot work. But the government has dismal record of creating low-pay jobs through which the employment can be rapidly increased. As far as the gross employment is concerned, it would be better to leave the money to the professor, so he can keep his gardener and his nannies. Several low-pay jobs will be destroyed to provide one government-backed benefit-loaded job. This does not make any sense.

Well, the government can't possibly be as effective as I am.

1. It has a huge overhead, - a non-productive government idiots, who will decide how to distribute. Commissions, sub-commissions, committees, regulatory organs, and so on.

2. Than, it buys things that I would not buy on my own. This means, - either it is overpriced, or I do not need it at all. Nobody needs it, - otherwise it would have been bought without governments help.

3. Best case scenario, - it just gives my money away to someone else, - in which case it will all balance out. I will respond to tax increase with asking for higher salary, my firm will raise prices, and so on, till everyone's consumption is back in the equilibrium state.

So, #3 does nothing in the long run, but #1 and #2, - they are huge waste of resources. Millions of people are not being productive, and millions of those who are producing something - produce something that nobody really wants.

I do not know. Roosevelt did create a lot of low-pay jobs through CWA. He created 4 million jobs in two months using only $16b in today's money. One can debate whether that helped the economy in the long run, but he did it, so it is possible. But doing absolutely nothing for labor mobilization and requiring more taxes for "creating jobs" is just nuts, even on their own terms.

And what were they producing? Great courthouses with empire-styled ornaments? Producing a job is not an issue, - you just give two people a shovel, - one will dig a hole, another will cover it back. Voila, - two jobs created.

И тогда служанка и газонокосильщик перстанут унижаться за деньги, и станут получать достойное пособие. Заодно пора освободить молочника, зеленщика, водителя трамвая, мусорщика... ах, чуть не забыл, - системных администраторов и дантистов. Гневное нет эксплуататорам трудового народа, которые нанимают людей у них в зубах копаться!... И проктологам тоже - свободу!

Аргументы у наших "демократов" - как у банальных рекетиров.

хуже. рекет - это тоже бизнес. рекетиры чаще думают, что если "убьют" бизнес, то "налогов" не с кого снимать будет. а эти не думают даже об этом.

Самое интересное, что те же люди с учёным видом рассуждают о необходимости стимулирования спроса и прочих учёных материях, а когда им под нос подсовывают подробную разбивку, где этот спрос проходит и как налоги его убьют - они тут же забывают обо всём этом и начинают вопить "ах ты кулак-вредитель, жалко тебе денег для народа! да плевать мы хотели на твой спрос!"

Вот-вот, ключевой момент: "Да плевать мы хотели на ТВОЙ спрос!".
Ну, в том смысле, что они очень-очень хотят стимуляцию именно своего спроса.
