Fic: The Road Home; Tim/Cissie; PG-13; Part 1/2 aravistarkheena September 22 2009, 02:53:18 UTC
Title: The Road Home
Pairing: Tim/Cissie
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None

The Road Home

It had been months since Cissie and Tim had any time alone. Between her travel for her training and Tim’s work, they had both been very busy. Tim worried, as days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, and he and Cissie still hadn’t gotten together, that it all spelled the end of their relationship.

Their salvation came when Tim worked a case involving Triad, the Chinese Mafia. Tim tended to work mob cases with his head close to the ground but things had gone awry and his super hero name had been identified to the mob. A hit had been put out on him forty five minutes later.

Tim had left China but it hadn’t helped. The hit followed him all the way to the Mid Western United States. He had narrowly avoided death more than once and after the third patch up job word had clearly gotten back to Cissie.

She had called him, furious and clearly terrified. She had insisted that he spend several weeks underground and to make sure he stayed underground, she would go with him. He had agreed, and figured that their relationship might not be so doomed after all. He was very much willing to take a break especially if it meant more time with Cissie.

Babs found them a safe house in the mountains near the Minnesota border to Canada. Cassie dropped Cissie off up there two days before Tim could get there. He wanted to fly under the radar both literally and figuratively, so he bought a three hundred dollar car from some guy’s lawn and drove it from Metropolis.

He stopped only for gas and a few hours sleep. He paid for everything in cash and slept in his car. He lived off of protein bars and bottled water he bought from the gas stations. The first day and a half he kept himself stimulated and awake by thinking of seeing Cissie again. However, as time went on and he became hypnotized by the road, he thought less and less about Cissie and more and more about a hot shower and a bed. Only the scratchy sound of the radio kept him awake.

Four days and several hundred miles later found him pulling into the driveway of the safe house, filthy, exhausted and smelling slightly of the pine tree scented air freshener that was tied so securely to the rearview mirror of his crap-mobile he would have needed a knife to get it off.

Cissie was standing in the doorway when he stumbled out of the car and up the porch to meet her. She said a cheerful hello and tried to give him a kiss on the cheek. Tim could only grunt slightly as he brushed past her and walked into the bathroom.

He showered, shaved and brushed his teeth in less than fifteen minutes. When he finally stumbled back out of the bathroom, in nothing more than a clean pair of boxers, Cissie was standing right where he had left her, looking upset.

The expression on her face was the one she wore when she was working up to something, either fighting a villain or bitching out Bart. She met his eyes determinedly, crossing her arms over her chest, and opened her mouth.

Tim cut her off before she could start.

“I know what you’re going to say, but I don’t want to have sex with you,” he said, possibly a bit more bluntly than would have been approved of by his etiquette professors at Brentwood.

“What?” she asked abruptly clearly confused.

“I’ve been driving for hours and I can’t even think anymore. I’ve spent the last two days listening to public access radio stations filled with hicks talking about their alien abductions and all I want to do is sleep for ten hours,” Tim rambled, trying to keep the pleading tone out of his voice and not quite succeeding.

“Wait, you don’t want to break up?” Cissie asked, brow furrowed.

“What? No! Not at all!” Tim exclaimed, willing his muzzy mind to catch up with the conversation at hand. “I want you to curl up next to me in bed and sleep until we can’t sleep anymore. Then I want to cook us a real meal and after that’s over I want to make love to you on the kitchen floor.”

Cissie smiled at him. “I think I like you this way. You’re much easier to understand when you’re not being politely vague.”

“I’m glad you’re enjoying this. Just promise me that if I walk into a wall you’ll haul me into bed,” Tim replied wryly.

“And a non sequiter that was not intended to be an abrupt change of subject?” Cissie said in a mildly awed tone of voice. “Maybe I shouldn’t let you sleep.”

“I would cry. A lot. And get snot on you,” Tim warned.

Cissie laughed and grabbed him by the arm. She led him up a small flight of stairs to loft style bedroom. One whole wall was a huge glass window that looked out over the mountainside. There was not a single trace of human habitation anywhere and Tim sighed in relief at the sight. Taking comfort in the vast expanse of trees and sky.

Cissie left him staring dazedly at the view as she turned down the bed. Then she crossed back over to him and pulled him towards it. They fell in together and Tim climbed under the covers.

He sighed with relief as he lay down. His tense and tired muscles relaxed and he felt at ease for the first time in days. Cissie curled herself around him, pressing to his side and resting her head on the pillow next to him.

Tim let his head loll to the side and gave her a sleepy smile.

“Thanks for being here,” he murmured sleepily.

She gave him a sharp smile. “Thanks for not being dead,” she said archly.

He smiled back at her and nuzzled her neck with his nose. “Sorry for worrying you.”

“You just better stick to your plan, Drake. I fully intend to have you make all that worrying up to me,” she informed him, not quite managing to hold back a smile.

“It’s a promise,” he whispered to her and felt her smile against the side of his neck as he drifted off to sleep.

A/N: Sorry for any typos. I edited it through but I'm freaking beat.

Awww! This is great! I loved it. You really do a great job with them, and have I mentioned how glad I am to have someone else who loves the pairing? :D

I'll probably get to your tomorrow if someone else doesn't first. :)

I'm glad you liked it. Is there a club I need to join? A membership fee? A hat with feathers on top?

Yay! It'll be good to have more people playing.

Oh, I love how you write them. Poor Cissie, so worried and stuck in a cabin in the middle of nowhere for days waiting for him, and then he shows up and only has eyes for the shower. ;) Silly Tim. Hopefully when he's had some sleep, he'll realize why Cissie looked ready to go into battle. (I love that she totally was, btw.) This is lovely and I love it!

I felt bad for her too. Sadly, Tim was too beat to read into the nuances of her mood. :(

Good thing he fell back on blunt honesty. :D

Hopefully he'll make it up to her later. ;)

It is! It shocked her right out of her mood! He should try it more often.

I have a feeling she'll hold him to the plan. Promises were made and those promises will be kept. >:D
