This particular photo caught my interest on Tumblr today - the full version is
here. I'm not sure where the original source of these tidbits about Arashi's names came from, or if the information is even half-legit, but whatever. Like the rather obsessive fangirl I tend to be, I looked up the novelist Shibata Sho, and came upon two German sources:
a blog entry in German and
a web article from a publishing house. Basically, both talk of Shibata-sensei's having been awarded the Akutagawa Prize, arguably Japan's most highly-esteemed award for literature, and how he was instrumental to the creation of
a prestigious women's university in Tokyo. My mind is still reeling from the sheer coincidence of it all.
I graduated with a degree in Economics even before I learned of Sakurai Sho. And now that I'm trying to earn another bachelor's degree in German, I could possibly - possibly! - even end up in the same track as the man his mother named him after. This. This is creepy.
