"Where's Aiba?" Sho asked curiously, peeking over the tip of a newly printed newspaper.

"What? Aiba? I guess he's not here yet." Matsujun replied nonchalantly.

"That guy is always late." Nino complained, pressing menacingly on those buttons.

"Ohno, what do you think?" Sho turned his attention towards the sleepy looking young man seated on the couch.

"Hm? Ah, Aiba-chan..Where's Aiba-chan?" Ohno was too busy 'cavorting' so he ahd not heard any of their conversation. That or he was too spaced out or possibly day dreaming about fishing.

Then suddenly, the phone rang. Of course, Sho was the one to go over and answer it. "Moshi, moshi?"

"Is this a friend of a...Mr. Aiba Masaki?"

"Hai, I am a friend of Aiba."  Matsujun and Nino had gotten interested so they watched Sho and mouthed for him to put it on speaker so they can hear it as well. Ohno was well still cavorting the couch and staring into blank space.

"Can you please come to the central hospital right now? I'm afraid, Mr. Aiba Masaki had gotten involved with a car crash and is now in critical condition." The four Arashi members rushed out of the room after they heard car crash. They were on their way to see Aiba. Their only hope is that it wasn't too late to see him one last time before an eternal goodbye.
---

Sho, Ohno, Nino, and Matsujun were waiting queitly and anxiously outside the operating room. It had been hours since they arrived to be told that Aiba's condition suddenly worsened and was rushed into the operating room.

Ohno's tears were rolling down his cheeks as he buried his face into Nino's chest. Nino couldn't do anything but stare at blank space. Sho was gripping bundles of his hair and biting on his lips, praying for Aiba's well being as the tears unstoppably burst out of his eyes. Matsujun stood against the wall, head down sniffling.

That's when the light on the door switched off and the door was pushed ajar.

"Doctor..." Sho whispered. "Is he okay?? Is Aiba okay?!" He asked worriedly, eyes focused solely on the doctor's response.

"..We did our best. There is nothing more we can do. The operation has helped much in that he will wake up soon. But if he does not hold on until for another three days..there is no chance. If he does get through these three days then I'm positive he will be fully recovered with some time in the hospital. That is all I can say for now. We will have to see after three days."

The four remained silent as the doctor walked away. A few nurses came out of the operating room with Aiba. Ohno, Matsujun, Sho, and Nino stared at his body. He wasn't moving. He didn't look like he was alive. He seemed as if he were gone already..

And then they knew. They just couldn't tell him the truth.

---

"Aiba-chan, it's us. How are you today?"  Ohno poked his head inside the white hospital room filled with get well gifts.

The hyper, energetic boy forced a smile. He was actually feeling dizzy and a pain had been bothering since he woke up two days ago.

---

Aiba's eyes fluttered slowly and graciously. He blinked back the features of his surroundings. On his left, Sho's head was lightly placed on the tiny unoccupied space. On his right, Nino and Ohno were alseep on a chair. Ohno was sitting on Nino's lap and his head nuzzled against the other's neck. Aiba could see their chests heaving up and down, up and down. He smiled at the cute scene and scanned for any sight of Matsujun.

The youngest member was at the end of the bed, right where Aiba's feet rested. The four of them had a dark aura around them. Under their usually bright, shining eyes were huge bags and dried up tears.

Aiba was confused. Had they been crying? Why? Where is this place?  Why is there such pain all over my body. Why does it hurt so much?...

Unexpectantly, Sho shuffled even closer to Aiba's bandage covered body. "Masaki..." He murmured. Sho's body was shaking and moans escaped the boy's lips. He was having a nightmare.

"Sho-chan? Sho-chan wake up. It's just a nightmare. Daijoubu, I'm here...Sho-chan." Aiba sat up cautiously trying not to wake up the others. He put a hand on Sho's hair. It used to be so soft and silky but now it's all oily and rough.

Sho's head shot up in fright. What scared Aiba so much was that as Sho awoke from his nightmare, he had screamed something more than audible to Aiba. "Masaki, don't leave me!"

"Sho-chan, Sho-chan. It's okay. It's just a nightmare. I'm not gonna leave you. I'll never leave you, okay?" And the news caster had finally realized what he had said.

"..." The older man could not utter a word. It was still a mystery if Aiba would leave him or not.

"Aiba-chan? You're awake!" Ohno exclaimed happily and pulled Aiba in for a hug.

"Well, I guess that means group hug." Matsujun smiled sadly and went for second hugger but Nino stopped him wit a glare followed by a stern voice.

"I'm the only one allowed to hug Ohno." The game otaku went for second hugger himself and wrapped his arms and hamburger hands around Ohno's waist.

Matsujun shook his head disapprovingly and rolled his eyes. He was about to go for third but yet another voice stopped him.

"I'm already far enough, Jun-kun. Please don't make it even further." Like the kind person he is, Matsujun nodded and allowed Sho to crush the three members in a heart-warming bear hug.

At last, Matsujun went for last hugger and launched himself towards the other four. After a while, they let go of each other's embrace and an awkward situation came to be.

Neither Nino, Sho, Matsujun nor Ohno could speak. Something important held them back.

They couldn't tell him...They just couldn't. It would only hurt them and Aiba.

Aiba didn't notice anything wrong or out of the usual. His attention was fixed on the growing pain in his chest and head. The world before his eyes spun and his throat burned. It felt as if his heart and head was going to explode any moment.

A couple of minutes passed. The other four members decided to go and get Aiba something to drink downstairs. Aiba only smiled and waved to them as they closed the door behind them.

Aiba felt sick. Really sick. He began to cough and blood came out of every life taking cough. The boy stared down at the blood plastered all over his hands. Blood...

And he understood the reason for his friends' lifeless eyes and blank expressions.

"..I'm gonna have to leave them after all..."

---

"I'm good. I feel much better. You guys talked to the doctor right? What did he say?" He wanted to know if they were going to tell him. If they were going to tell him the truth.

"He said you can be released today..." Nino responded.

"Johnny-san called and wondered if you wanna visit the jimusho. They're having a get well soon party for you. Since you're feeling better, you wanna go?" Matsujun informed.

"Yeah, of course!" He had to keep strong. Refrain from showing anyone signs of pain or sadness. Even thought the doctor might have said he had a chance, he knew inside well enough that there wasn't going to be a chance.

"Then get changed. I'll get the car." Sho grinned and headed for the door. Aiba did as Sho said and locked  the bathroom door as he went in.

Making sure nobody would hear, he flushed the toilet as he coughed painfully. Yet again, blood was there. He quickly cleaned the mess up and changed into the clothes they brought from his house.

Aiba came out of the bathroom and looked at the three who were standing in dead air.

"I'm ready! Let's go!" As long as he kept that smile, they won't hurt as much. It may hurt him but it's worth it. To make his precious friends happy. That was the last thing he wanted to do before it was goodbye.

He vowed to bring happiness to those important to him and to smile until the very last second.

---

As the whole group of Arashi entered the jimusho, Aiba walked slowly to be at the same pace as Sho. "Ne minna, want to play a game?" Aiba suggested.

"Why don't we play once everyone is there?" Matsujun replied emotionlessly, head bent down, eyes glued to the ground.

"But.." Aiba couldn't find the right words. He fumbled his mind but it merely added to the several pains he was sustaining.

"We're almost there. Just wait a bit longer, okay?" Sho inquired as he dug his hands into his jean pockets.

"The more the funner it'll be, right?" Ohno managed to flash Aiba a tiny, barely visible grin. It hurt them all to smile around him. They didn't want to make him unhappy but something inside their hearts was making them act this way. They should be creating a better atmosphere for Aiba to be in but they just couldn't do it.

Nino unlocked the door they stood in front of to reveal at least three-fourths of the jimusho. All the juniors and seniors were present. No staff was in sight though. But Johnny-san was there.

"Aiba, how are you doing?" Johnny-san approached the five and patted Aiba slightly on the back.

"Great. So what's going on here?"

"Find out for yourself. I am going to take my leave now. Today is special. Made just for you Aiba. Only the idols are going to be here now. Since I'm not one I will leave you be. Enjoy yourselves. Aiba, take care of yourself too, got it? You are the Miracle Boy after all." Then he disappeared.

Music was blasting through the speakers and everyone was either dancing, singing, eating, playing, or drinking. And that's when Aiba noticed.

"Aren't these all OUR songs?"

"What? Oh yeah, they are." Sho grinned at Aiba. The younger boy brightened up. It had been such a long time since Sho has smiled in three days...

"I wanna dance! Hmm, Oh-chan, dance with me!" Aiba tugged on Ohno's shirt expectantly.

Ohno nodded, "Sure." And they danced away happily. Well, Aiba was happy at least..

"Should we tell him?" Nino asked the two remaining members.

"..I think we should, but..." Matsujun trailed off.

"It's the right thing to do but not what I want to do. That's what my heart is telling me." Sho watched Aiba and Ohno dominating the dance floor. The energized boy was jumping up and down. He even did a few flips here and there. Ohno followed amused but still quite sullen.

"He seems so happy. So cheerful. I don't want to tell him.." Matsujun blinked back tears. Sho stayed silent as Nino was too sad to even take his DS out.

They knew they should but..they just couldn't do it. They still could not accept the fact that today was Aiba's third and last day..

---

"HAHA!!" Aiba screamed and shouted all around the room. He danced with almost everyone. The miracle boy had a few drinks that ended up with him kissing a bunch of people. Now he was pulling on Yamapi and Akanishi Jin's arms.

"You guys should eat this! It's CHO UMAI! Ne, Oh-chan?~" He pointed to a random plate in the garbage can. "HAHAHA!!" He had let go of the two juniors and ran full speed towards the members of Hey!Say!JUMP. Ohno was picked to babysit Aiba.

"Aiba-chan! Wai-wait up!"

Chinen saw his Ohno-kun running towards them long ago and pushed the Hey!Say!JUMP members away.

"Ohno-kun is coming here!" He jumped up and down at least three minutes straight. His band mates however shook their heads at the overhyper and excited little boy smile nonstop.

Chinen thought Ohno was going towards him and so he didn't see Aiba at all. Well not until Aiba was almsot right in his face and screaming, "CHINEN!~Kawaii!" The Arashi member ruffled Chinen's hair and stared at the boy.

"Ai-Aiba-kun?!" He said nervously.

"Ah, Chinen!" Ohno stopped in his tracks a Chinen was about to become another victim. "No, Aiba-chan! Stop! Aiba-chan! Chinen, get away from him or he'll-" Ohno was a step too late as Chinen became a victim of Aiba's drunken kisses.

"CHINEN!" The Hey!Say!JUMP members watched in horror as Aiba let go of Chinen slowly.

Chinen didn't move an inch. "Ohno-kun..." And then he started a crying fit. Quickly quite a number of people leaped to Chinen's comfort.

Voices intersected each other, "Chinen are you-Don't cry!-It's okay I-Chinen-"

"Aiba-chan!" Ohno walked over cautiously towards the younger boy. He had paused and turned his back on everyone else. He didn't say a word. Just stood there with his hands in his face. "Aiba-chan, what's wrong? Are you-" Suddenly Aiba fell to the ground. Ohno appeared at his side in no time. Meanwhile, Nino, Matsujun, and Sho saw what had happened and rushed over... Their worst nightmare had finally come to haunt them forever.

"AIBA-CHAN! What's wrong? Don't scare me!! Aiba-chan!" Ohno screamed at the top of his lungs, praying for his friend's safety.

"Masaki!" Sho knelt beside Aiba's fallen body and gently lifted him up. "Are you okay? Answer me. Come on, Masaki..We're all here for you."

"Not now. We knew it would happen but why did it have to! WHY!?" Nino shouted and hugged onto Matsujun's body. "Jun, this isn't happening right? It can't be. Not yet! Not now!" The older boy cried his heart out. People began to notice what had happened.

"Shh, it's okay Nino. We all knew from the beginning. We just have..to accept it..We need to be strong for him to leave seeing us happy so he will be happy. Let's do this for Aiba-chan, ne?" Tears trailed down his own cheeks as he stared down at Aiba's body and wrapped his arms around Nino's small frame.

"Aiba-chan..Aiba-chan.." Ohno shook Aiba's body.

"Oh-chan.." He croaked breathing heavily. He reached his fingers up to Ohno's face and touched his leader's cheeks. "Don't be sad. I want everyone to be happy.."

"Aiba-chan, no.." Ohno shook his head vigorously. "I'd rather have you then to be happy. Don't leave us. I'd rather be sad for my whole life then to lose you..No, please. I'm sorry for never telling you the truth."

"We're all sorry, Aiba-chan." Matsujun apologized.

"It was supposed to be better that you didn't know.." Nino sniffed and look at Aiba with sad, regretful eyes.

"We didn't want to hurt you..We're sorry, Masaki. We really are.."

".." Aiba smiled. "Don't be sorry, minna. I knew. I knew from the beginning. I wanted all of you to be happy but it seems like I wasn't able to fulfill my promise. Will you smile for me one last time?.." The boy coughed into Sho's muscular chest and panted. "One last time.."

"Masaki, Masaki..I love you.." Sho cried as the smile stayed plastered on his tear stained face. "I love you.."

"Aiba-chan!" Ohno ran towards Nino and embraced the other boy. "Nino, he's not going to leave us, is he? It's all a lie! It's it's not real...It's not real, ne Jun-kun?? Ne?" He desperately pleaded for them to answer him.

"Sho-chan," Aiba choked out painfully, "I..love you..too. Oh-chan, don't cry. Nino, don't cry. Jun, don't cry..Sho-chan, don't cry..Onegai, ne?.." The Miracle Boy coughed.

People had gathered. Some couldn't help but sob sadly while some spaced out at the scene.

"Aiba-kun? We-we thought he was fine! He was supposed to be all better! Isn't he, Yuma-kun?! Dai-chan!" Chinen wailed loudly. His band mates and the other juniors couldn't help but cry along. The seniors didn't cry but they yearned to let it out. Aiba Masaki was always the funny, stupid, and nice idiot in the jimusho.

Nobody could have replaced him. He was the Miracle Boy. The one and only. The one who smiled in any situation. The one who cheered everyone else up. The kind-hearted, perverted member of Arashi. The high spirited baka who never stopped laughing his weird annoying but adroable laugh...The bane of all of their happiness...

The Miracle Boy.

"Please, minna. One last smile. Just one. I want to see everyone smiling. I want everyone to be happy. Please? One last smile. For me." The dying boy smiled dimly. His body was shaking.

Sho was also shaking but in fear of losing the most precious person in his life. He would never be able to live without him..Never..

"Egao..I love everyone's smile the most." He continued on but he knew he couldn't hold on anymore. He had to let go soon...

"I can't, Masaki. We all can't! Why are you doing this to us? Why? Don't leave me! Please..Please don't leave me...Masaki!" He was right. They just could not find the strength or happiness to smile. Not now. Not ever..

"I'm sad, minna. I'm sad, Sho-chan...In the end, I'm just a useless person who can't even make the people he loves smile...I'm sad, Sho-chan.." And with his last breath and last Aiba Masaki smile, "..I'm sad..." Aiba's breathing stopped and fulfilled half of his promise of smiling until the end. His heart stopped and those soft, tender hands fell to his sides as Sho gripped onto his body, refusing to let go..

"MASAKI!!!" Sho cried out. His hurting heart finally broke into millions of fragments. All his happiness suddenly disappeared as the stars disappear when day comes.  (? whatt the heck is this? so weird? O.O)

Wails, sobs, cries, tears, sadness, and most important, regret filled the large empty room.

Aiba Masaki was gone. And they had let him go in sadness. This would forever lie in their memories. They would never forget the day the Miracle Boy vanished.

"AIBA-CHAN! No! No! NO!!!" Ohno birued his head in Matsujun's chest.

"I'm sorry, Aiba! Gomen..Gomen..Come back, please come back..Don't leave me.." Nino slid down onto the floor. "Aiba-chan...Ai-Ai-Aiba-chan! Aiba-chan, don't leave me...Please.."

"Why didn't I smile? Why didn't I do it for him? I'm so stupid..I'm the worst..Aiba..Aiba..." Matsujun gritted his teeth in anger.

All of them were filled with regret. Regret. It was eating away a certain person. The most hurt out of them all.
---

It had been a week since Aiba's death. Arashi decided that they would never be able to be Arashi without him. It was impossible so they decided to retire. Nothing would ever be the same without him. Nobody stopped them..They knew how they felt. They had lost something that could never be replaced.

The funeral proceeded as planned. Many people came. Many people mourned and grieved. Except for four people. They had done enough of that on the day of his death. The four haven't noticed until now. The day. The day Aiba left them. Left this world. That day. It was special. It was Aiba's birthday.

None of them could forget the scene of December 24th.

As time passed, people began to leave. The only ones remaining were the four. Rain was pouring outside. Sho, Nino, Jun, and Ohno stood in front of their friend's grave. His picture was stashed on the cold, marble rectangular shaped stone. A picture of his best, happiest, most beautiful smile. His eyes sparkled, his teeth showed, and his wrinkles in place. An image of true happiness...

On the tombstone, words and dates were carved into it..Unforgetable words and dates.

Aiba Masaki. Precious member of Arashi. December 24th, 1982 to December 24th, 2009. The Miracle Boy.

They made up their minds. It was just impossible. Even one week hurt too much. How could they live it out? It was impossible. They couldn't...Not without him.

--

Sirens blared, lights flashed, and the rain continued to pour viciously out in the open. People from the funeral had come back to mourn and grieve once more. They couldn't beleive what had happened. It was indeed a true tragedy. One nobody would ever forget. OneThe best talent, the best group, the best people.

Now, all five were gone from this world. It would never be the same.

Around Aiba Masaki's tombstone and freshly buried body were four limp, spiritless, dead bodies of four young members of the greatest band of all time, Arashi. They each had a damp, red blotch of stickiness covering their abdomens. A sign of regret. A sign of friendship.

---

Not long after, all five members of Arashi were buried right next to each other's Now they would never be apart. They would always be together..

Always.
