Races and Spaces, Time Sure Flies

There Aiba was sitting on the couch in someone’s apartment in Kyoto that he didn’t even know but apparently knew him. Sakurai Sho…he said his name was. While this Sakurai person was in the bathroom getting changed out of his wet clothes Aiba pulled the letter from his pocket. Now that he thought about he was sure he said the Name Sho in there at least once…or so he thought. But when he looked over it most things where still illegible. When he heard the door open Aiba quickly folded the paper and put it back in his pocket.

“Ne…Masaki.” He heard Sho call out to him.

“Uh...yes?” He hesitated with his answer for being called Masaki was odd to him since Aiba couldn’t remember his name.

Sho handed him a town to dry his hair. “Why are you in Kyoto? I told you I was going to visit Chiba in a few days.”

‘Chiba…so that’s where I live.’ Aiba nearly jumped for joy when he got a slightly solid piece of information. “I…I don’t know. I have no idea as to why I’m here.”

Sho nodded and walked into the kitchen to get them something to drink. “Typical Masaki behavior I guess.” He laughed at the thought of a wandering Aiba in Kyoto looking for himself as he walked back into the living room to sit next to Aiba.

Not that Sho got a better look at him he felt that something was off. Without saying a word He lifted Aiba’s bangs up out of his face to clearly see him. “Masaki…” He mumbled. “How...how long have you been in Kyoto?”

Aiba’s heart speed up at the sudden closeness and pushed Sho’s hands away. “Wh-what are you…?” He thought about Sho’s question before finishing his own. “I guess 3 days…I lost track though since I didn’t know what time it was. Wh-why?”

Sho didn’t answer for he had gotten up and left the room once again causing Aiba’s heart to make wild jumps in anticipation and confusion. He had no bloody idea what was going on anymore and he felt even more so confused than before. But he kept his mouth shut for being here, In Sho’s place (even if he ‘didn’t know’ the guy), was better than the rain. When Sho can back he had a first aid kit with him from the bathroom. Sitting once again next to Aiba he pushed and clipped Aiba’s bangs back out his face. “How do you always wind up so dirty?”

The warm and kind tone Sho used made Aiba shrug automatically. “I donno…” Aiba looked at Sho’s face and he had no where else to look in their close proximity. He looked over ever feature slow and carefully hope to get a connection in his head somehow and if there was none forming and this whole thing went down in flames just to have the amazing face imprinted into his mind forever. “I just woke up….and I was a mess.” He finally finished before winching at the rubbing alcohol that was put on the scraps on his face. He hadn’t even noticed them there.

Sho stopped and made eye contact with Aiba causing his face to heat up as he diverted his eyes to not be caught starring. “Woke up? What do you mean?” Sho sat back to let Aiba explain.

“I don’t know, I just woke there. The alley on the other side of the park, I felt like utter shit and had no idea where I was.”

Sho nodded and went back to cleaning up Aiba’s face. “And that was 3 days ago?”

“Yes.”

They stayed silent as Sho finished up with putting a band aid on the biggest cut on Aiba’s forehead and letting his bangs fall back into place. “There.” He said with a smile closing the box and crumpling up the band aid wrapper. He heard Aiba mumble a small ‘Thank You’ before he went to put the stuff away.

Chiba

“Will you knock it off?” Jun all but whined. “You’ve tried calling him 15 fucking times today. He is not going to answer no matter how much you try. End of the fucking story.” He took a sip of his beer hoping that Nino would stop dialing Sho’s number every 15-20 minutes in hopes of finding Aiba.

“Shut it, Junnosuke.” Nino said causing Jun’s annoyance to rise with his most hated nickname.

He slammed the glass on the table causing Ohno to jump ever so slightly. “Why the hell does it matter? Aiba’s a grown man he can take care of himself.” The youngest crossed his arms, “granted in 2 days max he’ll come home with a stupid grin saying something we don’t understand. This wouldn’t be the first time.”

“Baka!” Nino yelled, “Yes this isn’t the first time he’s done this, but since when doesn’t Aiba answer his phone?”

Jun groaned. “You’re such a girl. God, why not just break up with Ohno and go out with Aiba?”

Nino kicked him under the table once he saw Ohno’s hurt and worried look. “He didn’t mean it Oh-chan, Junnosuke’s just being stupid.” He turned his gaze now glare onto Jun. “Nice job wise ass. And I would never do such a heartless thing. Aiba’s my best friend as are Sho and you. Don’t be stupid or you’ll be the next one missing.”

“You’re a son of a bitch, you know that?” Jun growled.

“And you’re the daughter of one.” Nino answered as they all heard a ‘hello’ over the speaker phone. “Sho-kun?” Nino said with hope.

“I’m pretty sure that I am…what’s up?”

Nino go straight to the point before Jun could bitch more. “Have you heard or seen Aiba as of late?”

“Masaki? He’s right here with me…why what’s the problem?”

All three of them let out a sigh of relief. “Thought you didn’t care Jun…” Nino mumbled only to get the reply of ‘One day Ninomiya Kazunari…one fucking day…’. “Well he’s been missing…? Is that the right word, for the past few days. We were getting a little worried.”

“Translation…” Jun said nonchalantly taking the phone from Nino, “He’s been calling you practically non-stop all day.”

“Well Masaki is right here…” Sho said with little emotion. “Is that all?”

“Kinda, yeah.” Nino said.

Ohno piped in this time, “Sho-kun.” He said gaining looks from Jun and Nino, “is something wrong? You sound…upset.”

“It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it. I’ll call you guys later, and bring Aiba home in a day or two when I get the chance, okay?”

“Mm…bye.” All three said before they get the dead end on Sho’s end. Something was fishy, and it had nothing to do with Chiba or Ohno.
