So thesis is finally underway. Part of me is going "YAY!" and is as excited as a little kid during Christmas but the other part of me wants to claw my eyes out because of this... HUGE... and I mean massive undertaking I've... er... under... taken?
ANYWAY!
Let's start with the big rant: we'll call him... Asado.
So during week three of our pre-production classes, Asado approaches me and asks if I wanna be partners. I'd started to consider it at first seeing as part of my head was going "You can go this alone if you wanna die early!" but anyway. I don't give him a direct answer but choose to (as many a deity has in the past) test his mettle first. I show him the script and he starts to read it.
Then shit hits the fan and I knew this wasn't working out.
So... he asks about Maria Makiling's character design and I say that she's got pointy ears because Eri has pointy ears it's to differentiate her from humans, he starts to suggest "Why don't we just make this an elf story?"
As much as I like my high fantasy, I've already decided that this'll be a take on the Maria Makiling legend. And without skipping a beat, he asks if I have designs for the male lead yet.
Shin: -looking at a picture of Nero- ...well, kinda..
Asado: Can we design him like Link? Farmboy Link from Twilight Princess?
Shin: ...er, I don't think..
Asado: -googling a picture- We can make his hair all raggedy and messy... and mebbe kinda bishonen like.
Shin: Well, ysee... -looking at pegs drawn from Malang, Amorsolo and other Filipino paintings-
Asado: And can we keep the pointy ears?
Shin: ...-headdesk-
Yes, Nero has pointy ears. No, he isn't going to have them in this version. And really. A Zelda game as reference? Look, pal... I love games prolly as much as you do. I'm practically glued to my PSP when I've got nothing to work on but... I know how to separate hobby from school. I said I wouldn't drag any anime into this because the panel wouldn't like it and it doesn't fit the story so don't go dragging any games into my thesis.
So before he could throw anything else into my story, I threw him out of my team.
THIS MORNING:
Shin: -doodling studies for male lead-
Asado: -peers over shoulder- so that's your style?
Shin: Prolly. Ma'am Lorna wants something simple and easy to animate.
Asado: Why don't you just go back to anime?
Shin: ...because I can't.
And a bit later..
Asado: So, you're really doing this alone?
Shin: 8D YES! -is hyped up from prof's instructions and insights-
Asado: I was thinking of doing a Philippine legend too.
Shin: Good luck. -secretly rassafrassaning because she's no longer the only one doing a legend-
I really can't be mad at the guy. I feel sorry that he can't find a group he can join but... it's really just not gonna work out if we work together. I mean, I'm on page one and he's... in another book entirely. I had to let him go. Normally, I'd accept a decent partner but... well... he's just all over the place, this one is. ><
I feel sorry for him but... I just can't help him.

On a more positive note, I feel that... maraming natutuwa sa ginagawa ko.
My prof's been amazingly supportive. She keeps checking up on me and asking me how the designs are going and this morning, she borrowed two books on Magsaysay-Ho because she thought I could use them as pegs.
Also, I got one of the members of the previous batch's best excited about my thesis. She said she'd be keeping an eye out for it.
Now all this has made me really excited. Like "HOMG I don't suck and this is gonna be so awesome!" excited but... I'm also pretty nervous. I'm kinda scared I bit off more than I can chew and if I don't deliver, I'm going to disappoint a whole LOT of people.
Also, this morning.
"Sino nga ba ang nakaligo sa dagat ng basura?"
"-singing- SI MANNY VILLIAAAAAAR~"
"Hoy guys! Sinong nakakita sa lapis ko? Nawawala."
