Title: A Little Bit More Than Just...
Series: Chapter 3 - ... Disquieting
Rating: PG (swearing)
Pairing: Sakuraiba
Notes: I still can't get over 'Ninomiya Masaki.' It's still too weird~ I remember Chino reading my fic and referring to Aiba as Masaki when we were chatting about it. I love her for that.

Sakurai Sho blinked in the sunlight before covering his eyes with a pair of dark purple shades. Clutching his bag filled with crap for Nino and his brother Masaki, he crossed the road toward the dingy apartment building where the Ninomiya brothers lived. His nose automatically wrinkled as he stepped through the front door. God, he hated the smell of the place. How could those two stand it? He climbed the creaking stairs toward Unit 2, the old, shoddy 2 bedroom, studio apartment that housed his two best friends. He looked back down the stairs, wondering how in hell it could creak when it was carpeted. After a moment’s thought, he shrugged. Seeing as everything in this ruddy apartment building was down with the dogs, he shouldn’t have even wondered in the first place.

“Kazunari! Masaki! Open the door! It’s me, Sho,” he called, knocking on the slightly chipped door.

He tapped his foot, waiting impatiently, “C’mon yo, you can’t tell me you’re still asleep at this hour? It’s one in the freakin’ afternoon! OPEN UP!”

Still no response, he grinned and shouted at the top of his voice, “Fine! Then I’ll just have to eat all this greeeaat food… Mmm… Curry… Wow! There’s even some sussshi. Whoa… Italian spaghetti! And some pizza! I guess I’ll just have to eat this up but I’m so full. I’ll just have to throw it all away. Pity, pity.”

Loud hurrying noises and stumbling, reached his ears and in a matter of a second, the door swung open brashly. “Oh, don’t you dare throw away good food, you wasteful bastard!”

“Haha.. So you’d open up for food but not your best friend? Maa, makes me wonder if I should even give you the food?” Sho chuckled at Nino’s breathless face. A thin raggedy blanket was wrapped around his feet and his clothes were hanging off his frame. His hair was all ruffled and it looked like Sho’s screaming was what woke him up. Sho peered behind him and saw through to Masaki’s bedroom where the young man had just fallen off the bed, laughing.

“Hhahahashahahahaha… Th-that was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen!” Masaki giggled breathlessly. “He almost fell over from hurrying when he heard about the food! HahahHAHahahh!!”

“WELL, he was threatening to throw it away! Augh, just come on in Sho.”

Sho walked into the apartment and went straight to the kitchen table where he unloaded his bag of goodies. Masaki had stopped laughing and was taking a seat in one of the chairs surrounding the table. He was sniggering under his breath. Nino examined the plastic containers that Sho was pulling out onto the table with excited eyes. Wow, the food looked so delicious! Time to celebrate! It was Saturday after all, their only day off. Every Saturday, Sho would come over to their apartment and would bring over some food. Sho’s mother usually cooked so much that there were lots and lots of leftovers which they fondly share with the residents of Unit 2.

“UUUUMAAAIII! This tastes so good, Sho-chan! Tell your mama, thanks so muuuuch!” Masaki slurped up Italian Spaghetti, orangey sauce staining his faded white shirt.

Sho laughed and stuffed some pizza in his mouth.

Masaki stepped out of the shower, steamy wisps circling his wet body. A pair of discolored red boxers hugged his hips and he dry off his hair with a small thin Doraemon towel that had a couple holes in it. He plopped down onto his bed and into Sho’s waiting arms.

Nino, who had been chatting with Sho while waiting for Masaki to finally finish hogging the shower, crinkled his nose slightly as Sho kissed Masaki’s lips fleetingly. “Eeew, at least wait for me to leave the freakin’ room, Sho. And I told you not to use my towel anymore Masaki.” He laughed as Sho threw the wet Doraemon towel in his face. “If you keep this up, I’ll have to retract my blessing,” he added mischievously.

Nino disappeared into the bathroom, leaving the two giggling on the bed, which may or may not have been the best idea in the world. Masaki snuggled deeper into Sho’s arms and buried his face in his neck. Sho wrapped his arms around his bare back, feeling the cool that had settled on Masaki like a second skin. “You know, you should really put a shirt on. Cold isn’t really good for you.”

“Hmm… But you’re warm enough for the both of us…” murmured a lightheaded Masaki. He planted a soft kiss on Sho’s jaw.

“I.. I just don’t want you to get any worse…”

“Don’t worry about that Sho…” He pulled his head back to get a better look at Sho’s face. A crumpled, worried look stared back at him and his lips twitched into a smile. “Kiss me…” he whispered.

Sho leaned forward and took his lips, pulling him just a little bit closer. He couldn’t let go, not now, not ever.

Pulling on his dark blue uniform top, Ohno Satoshi hastily chewed the last remains of his 2-minute breakfast-slash-lunch. Dammit, he overslept! He was going to be late! He can’t afford to be late! Oh, crap, crap, crap, mega super crap! At the front door, his mother was clutching his bag, all ready to drop him off at the bus stop.

“Hurry up, dear! Your test starts in 30 minutes!”

Hastily, he stuffed his feet into his shoes and darted out the front door with his mother in tow. She was going to market and they would part ways at the bus stop a few blocks from their place. They walked briskly, side by side, Ohno-mama tucking in rowdy strands of Ohno’s longish hair behind his ears. At last they arrived at the block across the bus stop. They only had to cross the street and everything would be fine. Glancing at his watch, he heaved a sigh of relief. He still had 25 minutes; the bus would take him to the University in 10. The light turned green. They stopped at the sidewalk, in front of the crossing lane, the bus stop right in front of their eyes, waiting for the light to turn red so they could cross safely.

He sighed and calmed down a bit, bubbles and butterflies and all sorts of crap juggling around in his stomach. Ohno-mama kissed her son’s cheek, “You’re going to be fine, Satoshi. I love you.”

He grinned and let out a breath he had been holding, his face brightening up. He took his bag from his mothers fingers, “Thanks, Ma. I love you too.”

Unknown to the peaceful couple, a sleek black car, speeding at 100kph had turned a corner 2 blocks away, was hurtling toward them. The young man seated at the back, impatient and hotheaded, commanded the driver to speed up even more.

The light turned red.

“I don’t fucking care about the red light, idiot. Run it.”

Ohno’s eyes widened, his hair blown everywhere as a black blur raced in front of him. A thud, screeching and several more thuds and a background of screams reached his ears. Everything happening too fast for his brain to register, he stared, blankly horrified at the scene in front of him. His eye twitched and reality sunk in.

“MAMA!!!!!”
