Pairing: twinge of Ohmiya
Notes: For my dearest
tatsuha9! Happy Birthday to you! I’m sorry it’s a bit late (in the day) and I know you didn’t ask for it, but I wanted to make you one. I’m just sorry that it sucks and is majorly cliché. I hope you get the pun and don’t kill me because of it. Beta-ed by my ever so lovely matsughei matsuMon. XD
The sun sat on her throne high up in the sky, hiding behind a canopy of thin clouds, gracing the world below with just enough of her presence for the day to qualify as a good one, lovingly watching her children live their lives in their own sweet way. The wind flew around lightly, traipsing through the leaves of the trees that lined the edge of the park, dancing as she ruffled the hair of happily playing children and caressed the cheeks of lovers walking idly by hand-in-hand. She raised her sweet, pleasant voice in harmony with the curious melodies of the birds and blended together softly with the laughter that hung in the air. Yes, it was a good day. The park was brimming with life and nature was feeling very kind. All over the lush green grass and among the trees, people were enjoying the sunlight, the breeze, the laughter.
Ninomiya Kazunari, however, couldn’t see what all the excitement was about
He sat alone under a tree overlooking the entire majesty of the delightful park, irritated boredom evident in his eyes. He yawned and stretched, and fished out the baby blue DS he always had in his bag. He stole a glance at his watch and looked around for a frenzy of black spikes, before firing up his console when he came up with nothing. Wasting the delightful view, he immediately got absorbed in his game, oblivious to the fact that a small boy had approached him with all the cautiousness of a frightened kitten and had already settled beside him, peering over his arm, fascinated by the bright colors and tacky music. Nino looked at the boy briefly, distracted by the boy’s gaping mouth and curious eyes, a crinkle passing through his nose. He tried to concentrate on his game but the boy had started to make sounds whenever he got hit and it was fatally distracting. Game Over, said the screen. An irritated Nino put the game down and glared at the small boy who had somehow made it onto his lap.
“What are you doing?” he snapped. Gods, please make Ohchan hurry.
“Are you Nino-chan?” asked the boy, his small fingers poking at Nino’s cheek.
Nino’s eye twitched visibly at the abuse of his name, and he swatted at the boy’s hands. “What’s it to you?”
The boy’s eyes brightened and a big smile graced his pink lips. “Waaaiii~!! You are Nino-chan!” he squealed, launching himself into the biggest hug a little boy could muster.
“Wh-what?!” Nino pulled the boy off him, something that was proven to be difficult. The boy had a nice grip. “D-detach, boy! You’re wrinkling my shirt!”
“I am your BIGGEST fan! You are so cool Nino-chan! I’m super glad to meet you! I’ve been watching you since you sat down! I saw you and I thought that it was you! And now it IS you! Waaaii~!!” The boy gushed out, his face pink with happiness, as he climbed yet again onto Nino’s lap. “Whacha doin’ here, Nino-chan? Are you waiting for Ohchan? Are you two gonna play?”
For the second time in five minutes, Nino’s eye twitched visibly. This boy sure was prying. Nino peered closely at his face. Maybe he knew this kid? Or maybe he was a relative of someone he knew? The boy had longish wavy hair, big yet slanted eyes and pink kissable lips. He was wearing a gray shirt that had a Jack Skellington print on the front. He didn’t really look Japanese but had that Japanese air around him. Nino couldn’t figure out this boy. He was much too bubbly to understand. But he wasn’t anyone Nino knew, that’s for sure. One would definitely remember a kid like this.
“You’re not listening to me anymore aren’t you?” asked the kid darkly. “Fine… treat me that way. I’m used to being alone anyway. It’s just that for once I wanted to be happy on my birthday.” The big smile that had once been present on his lips had now been replaced with a pout, and a good one at that. Nino felt a few drops of guilt make their way into his stomach.
“It’s your birthday today?” Nino sighed, admitting defeat to the guilt that was already bubbling in his stomach. Damn it. This boy was good.
“Yeah… and when I saw you it was like the best birthday present ever… But, I’ll leave you now… Baibai Nino-chan..” whispered the boy sadly, his small shoulders hunched as he crawled off Nino’s lap and started walking away.
Nino rolled his eyes and grabbed the back of the boy’s collar, “Alright, c’mere.” He pulled the boy back onto his lap and pinched his cheek lightly. “Cheer up, ne? I’ll keep you company. It is your birthday after all.” He kissed the boy’s reddened cheeks as an afterthought.
The boy looked up, happiness shining once more on his youthful face. “Really? Arigatou!!!” He launched himself once again on Nino, his little hands clinging around the older man’s neck. Nino’s body stiffened initially at the boy’s hug, yet he found himself relaxing as the cool breeze blew by.
‘Ah, Nino?”
The hugging boys looked up at the voice and instinctively detached, like all men do when discovered hugging. Nino scratched his head, a bright blush creeping across his nose. He looked away and muttered. “Ah, you’re finally here Ohchan. What took you so long?”
“I got held up at home. Mama wanted me to clean my studio a bit. Who’s this cute little boy you’re hugging here?” Ohchan smiled sweetly, waving to the boy who smiled widely back.
“Ah, eeeeh… he’s uhhh… I don’t know who he is, actually.” Nino looked at the boy, patted him on the head.
“I told yooooou! I’m your biggest fan!” The boy said, jumping up and down happily. He flailed his arms around, and accidentally slapped Nino. He grinned and bowed his small apology.
“Right, he’s my biggest fan,” said Nino, a twinge of sarcasm present in his voice.
Ohno leaned down and poked the boy’s cheek, “What’s your name?”
The boy attached to Ohno’s arm and squealed, “Waaaaaiiii~!! Ohchaaaan~!!!”
Ohno laughed, plopped down beside Nino and pulled the boy onto his lap. Nino’s arms wrapped automatically around the other man’s waist and Ohno leaned back onto Nino’s chest, filling out the curves of the other’s body perfectly. Nino placed his chin on Ohno’s shoulder and blew lightly at the boy’s bangs, sending them into a frenzy.
“People call me Meat-chan! Coz my real name is close to Meat!”
“He’s so cute, Nino. I wish he was ours.”
“Well, it’s his birthday today. Maybe we can keep him for the day? Is that okay with you, errr… Meat-chan?”
The little kid nodded and jumped into Ohno’s arms, snuggling deeper into the embrace. So that was what it must’ve felt like to be held by your father, huh? He smiled softly and savored the warmth that had settled into the three of them. This was not only the best birthday ever. This was now officially the best day of his life.
