[Blog] Pseudo-Birthday
Well as I'm writing this entry I'm also counting down to the June 2nd, 2008 which happens to be my 18th birthday. In my country, the 18th birthday is considered a very important day, especially for girls. It is the day you shed off your minor self and become an adult. Or so they say. Well, seeing as my family wants me to become a proper lady someday, they decided to throw me a semi-debut type thing on my pseudo-birthday May 31. Actually it was just the usual hang out with my friends only there's a buffet, and some relatives~ But it was a great day, a really great day. Let me tell you all about it then~
Well as usual, the first friend I had with me on that day was Mon. If I try to look deeper for symbolism, I'd probably get something there but I'm much too tired right now to muse about my relationship with her, so I'll continue with my story. Me and mon went up North to go visit the church of Sta. Clara or St. Claire to offer an egg (why yes, an egg) so that it wouldn't rain that night. It was in fact, effective because it didn't rain at all that night on my house but we heard that only a few kilometers away there was a storm going on. XD Lucky, I guess? Or maybe it was the egg? It's such a weird practice! I mean, offering up an egg, an EGG for crying out loud. St. Claire must've been one weird chick.
After that we went directly to Mall of Asia which was hosting this year's Mangaholix convention at the SMX Convention Center. Oh boy did a ton of shit happen. XD it was a super fun event, with tremendous cosplayers, a handful of bishies and a Wink Up magazine for me with Arashi on the cover! XD That actually has a weird story attached to it. There were a couple of girls at a stall and they were screaming and I saw that they were holding a Potato mag! I started flipping out, I mean... JE MAG AT A CONVENTION ZOMG MUST FIND AND BUY!!!! But the girls had gotten there first and it was their choice if they were going to leave any for us. And they did! They bought every JE mag except one Wink Up! Mitch pointed to it saying "Arashi oh!" And Mon nabbed it and gave it to me! no way was I letting that go! XD I bought it instantly! And good thing too, those other girls looked like they wanted to get it as well. And one of them started to cry! And I do mean cry! She was crying and saying Jin's name between wails and I was honestly disgusted. I mean, it's just not nice to look at and demmit get some dignity~ Anyway, other than that incident there were also some funner stuff like my darling friends getting their pictures taken by men who will most likely masturbate off their pictures, but hey, in the otaku cosplay world, that's a frikkin honor. I was actually a bit out of place with my friends, I mean Jamapi, Mitch and Patty all looked very pretty in their otaku clothes~ And then there was me and Mon next to them XD We kept moving to the side whenever people wanted to take their pictures XD And there was one time that we were taking pictures with Jamapi like we didn't know her and we idolized her and other people started taking pictures as well, it was frikkin hilarious XD
After a while, Saigo finally got to the convention and my dad and the driver were on the way as well, so I left the event hall and went outside to meet with Saigo. We flailed over the Wink Up magazine as well as the cosplayers (including a Hard Gay cosplayer who we both saw) and pretty soon the whole group was together. Honestly, I'm very happy that Saigo was able to blend well with my friends. At first he was only talking to me and Mon but y'know, there was that pleasant feeling in the air. After a few laughs, mostly because of the escalators and stunts we did on them, we all started feeling more comfortable, even letting our stalker sides get the better of us. Anyway, my dad came and the driver was there too so we had to separate into two groups. One group (Jamapi, Saigo and Me) was with my dad and the other (Mitch, Patty, Mon) went with the driver and we all went to my house where my party was. In the carm Saigo and Jamapi started talking more and and I was very very happy. I like it when my friends are all friends too. XD The topic was Final Fantasy games, Yagami and the Im A Gay thing and a few more stuffs~ I had to LOL this morning when I heard that my parents were talking about that Im A Gay thing. XD Eavesdropping never was the way to go.
Anyway, we all ended up at my house, the Mangaholix groups was soon joined by Chino, Chantal and Monica. Then we hung out. Honestly, that was it. We just watched my TIME DVD and there was food and talking and gifts and relatives but behind it all it was just us hanging out. And that's the way I like it. XD There was major brainwashing happening because we were trying to overload Chantal, Mitch, Jamapi and Patty with Arashi love. It worked a bit and I'll gladly continue it. XD One highlight of the night for me was my brother and his girlfriend's gift. My brother had hinted that it was awesome and that he hoped I would cry and I almost frikkin did. It was a TIME ALBUM straight from Japan! I really really nearly cried. I was super happy! It was such a lovely gift! Another highlight was Chino and Saigo's discovery of the truth behind lengua which was served~ See, Lengua is cow tongue and it was all up in sauce and they were both just eating and heaving it down coz it really was delicious. Then came the revelation. It was very interesting to see the difference in their reactions. I told Saigo and Mon told Chino. Saigo was like ".... But I already ate it and it's nice" and started eating again whereas Chino lost her appetite. XD There was another highlight that made me go mushy coz I'm a freak. Mon and Patty were forcing Saigo to wear a flower and he was fighting back. But if anyone was going to succeed with force it was gonna be Patty. She is unbelievably strong. And Saigo was struggling and he suddenly blurted out "Anlakas ni Patty! Patty's strong!" and that mae me happy. O_O I know I'm a freak. But I liked it because there was a sense of friendship in that sentence. And god knows I'm a sucker for friendship.
Monica also gave me this comic of a fic of mine, Simple Reasons, and it is love. I swear to god the next icon I have is that Satoshi face she drew there it was so cute I kept squueeeing over it in my room this morning. XD Also, Chino gave me this Doraemon mouse and this humongo letter that made me cry. I seriously love that girl. But dont let her know that~ Chantal gave me a treasure box XD haha it's where I store my memories of that day. and Erin gave me lotion and a framed picture of Nino. LOL my cousins saw that framed pic and asked me who my boyfriend was. HWAHAHAHHAHA
And as with everything. All good things must come to and end and we all had to go home. XD My Pseudo-Birhtday was a good day and it was made all the more special because the people I love were by my side. I specially owe my gratitude to my mom who worked especially hard for that day. I love her so much, even though I dont really know how to tell her. But maybe that hug I gave her gave my message? I certainly hope so.
