This is the first non-Japanese historical fanfic I have read and oh my god ydgswdadbjkbsdvaasdfgs very incoherent right now. I wasn't quite sure where things were going at the start (my whole Napoleon-esque history isn't very strong either) so I took a while to understand what was going on then it finally clicked and and and...
First, I liked how you reversed the typical characterizations of Jun and Sho where Sho is the one who is like electric, like a typhoon and unsettling and a whirlwind (and also making all the moves on Aiba) while Jun is all calm and peace but also flaring with all that sex appeal and attraction.
I was majorly heartbroken with the whole Jun cheating on Aiba part (;A;) and then he clamours back for Aiba's love and affection and suddenly he realises how desperately he does love Aiba but Aiba is closing himself off from Jun and oh my heart whyyyy. I prefer my Jun/Aiba happy but I like how you worked with the whole Jun/Aiba/Sho dynamic going on and ALL THE ROLE REVERSALS AND FEELS, MY HEART, MY HEART. I, I...can't.
AND OHMYGAWD OHNO AS AIBA'S ELDER BROTHER BEING AWKWARD AND CATCHING JUN AND AND AND, I just find that adorable.
it just pains me how Aiba can't be happy, why is his happiness always taken away from him??? It's so bittersweet to read this and the letters. the letters. I loved how you included the small letters to each other.
And how the last person he saw was Jun. I don't know what you may have intended but how I saw it was that the one Aiba truly loved was Jun, (or more in a first love sense and they're always special) and even though he ended up with Sho and "chose" Sho in the end, there was always a soft spot for Jun, but it hurt too much that Jun betrayed him and then he betrayed Jun and then...
okay, I'm rambling but, things came full circle and then...
gaaaaaah, but okay, yes, my heart is with them all. ;A; Aiba please be happy.
