July 12: The new movie Yuuzai starring Japanese actors Ikuta Toma and Eita, before screening conveniently pulled enthusiastic discussion, regarding the movie revising the murder mystery of the same title, because of the sensational Kobe Child Murders in 90’s Japanese society. Ikuta plays Masuda, whose dreams of being a journalist were never fulfilled. After working in a small factory, he meets Suzuki, played by Eita.
Ikuta revealed that in the course of the filming, because he was already into the role excessively, he broke down and cried several times, and it was difficult to calm him down. Yuuzai by Edogawa Ranpo was bestowed to Yakumaru Gaku to do the actual writing. The story was based on the Kobe Child Murders in 1997. 14-year old boy A, also known as Sakakibara Seito, committed serial murders in Kobe, Hyogo, targeting elementary student in all cases, among which 2 died and 3 were injured.
Boy A used separate corpses and other brutal techniques to destroy the bodies. But because he was a minor, a severe punishment was not decided, only sent to the youth institution, released when he came of age, and returned to society, sparking a heated debate.
