Where have I been?!

That's a good question!
All in all, the answer would be...

This whole week has been nothing but working on previously created dungeon crawl. Josh asked us to make plans to have the next session of the game on Wednesday because of his hectic work schedule. So from Sunday til Wednesday I worked on the layout of the dungeon crawl for hours each evening until the early mornings. Damn, did my hand HURT from the pencil! I have a little blister in between my forefinger and thumb now. It's not visible but it hurts, so I know it is there, underneath the skin... waiting to come to the surface...

Last Friday I got my brother some of his own Mage Knight figures and a set of orange and gold dice. (and at the same time we got a vinyl game graph mat - so cool!) I wanted to let my brother have a go at my dungeon crawl as well and I assumed the best way to get him to play would be to get him his own set of dice and representative figures for his birthday. And along with that, an invitation to play in my AD&D game! I was quite evil when I got home however.. as I checked the boxes of his figures to make sure there weren't any duplicates, Mark gave me the sneaky idea of switching the figures. The boxes did have some neat stuff like a Spectre and a Manticore so I switched some of the figures in the boxes for some that I had. Like I said.. I was evil.

We picked Chad up on Monday and left him at the apartment while I talked with my counselor, Susanna. Very nice session this week if I might add. We even had a 'peeping Mark' in the window during the beginning. What a dork. I'll say it again. What a dork.

We went home and gave Chad his present. I couldn't lie to him and I told him what I did to his figures and he said "whatever", cause that's the kind of bro he is. Except when he asked me which ones I switched, he took back the Manticore. lol

*sigh*
Figures. (pun intended :D)

It's actually a good thing that Chad tied up my computer this week, but he didn't ask and played Everquest for three straight days (almost no sleep too!). But as I said, it's a good thing in a way because if he hadn't, I would have been online instead, baulking my 'duties' as a Dungeon Master to finish the game layout. lol So, thanks to Chad, I was able to get alot done. Most of the rooms and hallways of the dungeon crawl have been fleshed out.. so to speak... get it? There's like skeletons and zombies.. oh never mind... (these puns are really bad, I know) I couldn't really think of a way to keep the characters in the dungeon though which was my downfall when Wednesday came.

Online, Mark told Ulric about my Wednesday game, and naturally Ulric wanted to play. He created a simple human warrior at his house (cause he knew about my n00bness to Dungeon Mastering) and let me see it on game day. Looked pretty cool. Level 2 human warrior. Nice evened-out stat rolls and no overpowered twinkage and the sort.

Then a few days before the game, Mark's friend John D. calls and says he's gonna stop by.. on Wednesday! So now we have four players and a bystander. Nope, I was wrong again! John created an elven cleric so there were actually five players! So I go from starting a little game for two players on the first session, to a really huge game for five players the next session! I was NERVOUS and almost said no way jose.

But I finished most of the D-crawl early Wednesday morning and Mark, Chad and I hit the hay at around 6am. Got up that afternoon and we got the whole apartment in almost top condition in about two hours. Mark went to get some snacks, I took a shower, and Chad helped me bring the kitchen table into the livingroom and put the extra leaves in and set up the vinyl map with all the pieces.

Game was set for 4pm but no one showed up for another half-hour. And then everyone came through the door at once! Even Mark's brother Josh who we weren't even expecting. He didn't stay for the game though because he was just coming over to eat his lunch before heading back to his work.

The game started around 6pm. Kinda late, but oh well, Mark hadn't seen John D. for quite some time and it was nice seeing them talk together. Chad was a little antsy about how slow the game went, and Mark had to help me out a bit around the beginning of the game, trying to get everyone's characters situated and such. I'm not very good at leading the party.. so far I just know how to tell them where they are, not why. Hehe... *sigh* I really needed a better grasp on things. I'm very disappointed that the game didn't go the way I was hoping it would go. It's a good thing that I was only doing a simple randomized dungeon crawl, if it had been a really big, long campaigne, I don't think I would have been able to handle anything at all.

Let's just say, they made their characters go everywhere I DIDN'T want them to go. *sigh* They could go there later, and technically it wasn't detrimental to the party to not hit the hot-spot rooms at all, but.. it was still disappointing that they didn't, because I spent a long time thinking about the non-player character (NPC), Dothan. Dothan was to be my ghost NPC, and he has some pretty cool shit on him that he was going to give to the party if they could help him leave his haunting and crossover. But they never found him and I'm really depressed about that. I liked creating Dothan!! O_o

A replay of the session for Wednesday is being written right now. :)
