I finished The Stranger today. I suppose it reminded me of the Death Ship. Not in style of writing so much as the pattern of ending. The drawn out language of the book, the slow, incessant build up to some unknown but highly anticipated conclusion, it all adds up in the same equation for the same solution: One Profound Statement of Revelation. Perhaps a paragraph, maybe just one sentence, but certainly not any more than half a page. Staying with the entire book for those few sentences at the end, it was worth it.
I wish Stranger Than Fiction was a real book. No doubt it was an incredible movie, but I wish the story she was writing about Harold was real.
