Amidst so much else that has been unpleasant lately (including the actual day of my birthday, which brought seven inches of snow) my momma's birthday gift was very thrilling --a not inconsiderable amount of money to fling around at www.luckyscent.com. I've since flung it, and true to form, emerged on the other side with a good many L'Artisan scents.
Coming to me in various bottles and sizes--
1) Full-size of Bois Farine. This is my marzipan-meets-accident-in-pencil-factory scent and it is (frankly) a total comfort scent for me, something I wear when I need subconscious sensory reassurance. Thanks to my momma, I have a bottle coming now and I can stop living out of decants.
Also coming are Boudicca's Wode, L'Artisan Navegar (which is only arguably unisex, and not a male scent, but this has not stopped me before) and L'Artisan Fleur de Liane, which may be a tremendous disappointment but is another of Bertrand Duchaufour's Travel series; I worship at the altar of Bois Farine and Timbutku, have a cold-cheek relationship to Dzongkha, and will have to see what comes of Liane. It's reputed to be very flowery-melony, something that could be an asset or a disaster. (I'm still looking for summer-appropriate scents. That said, I have no desire to smell like one of those awful fruit arrangements.)
Last two samples are Jaisalmer (again) and Zagorsk, both from the Comme des Garcons: Incense series (Series 3). Jaisalmer gets another chance because I can't remember it, and because I feel sure I must like it; also because I am within spitting distance of picking up another of the series at Toby.com, and while I think it is likely that bottle will be Ourzazate (78% chance, I would say) there is still the possibility that I misappreciated Jaisalmer at the time and it gets a final bat at the spot. Zagorsk I never had a chance to try but don't anticipate I will like, being not a fan of iris (although quite taken with any scent that involves cold or earthy scents.)
I can't wait, man. *shudders in delight*
