Lost Boy

((um. Story format. Yay?))

Aran wandered away from his siblings, looking at them warily before slinking into the hallway. It was quieter here than in 'Modern-Earth', but what he'd been told was true. It was easier to breath. The air was cleaner.
Feeling his way along the wall with his fingertips, he meandered through Minas Illith, venturing down stairways and across rooms in search of something to entertain himself. At last him came to the door that lead outward. Opening it up revealed vegetation, which drew him outside.
The vegetation lead away, expanding out dauntingly, with a seeming mist clinging to the leaves. Deciding it was best not to get lost in it, he turned away towards the stables.
Moraer wouldn't be there of course. He would have let himself out. Still, the boy was interested in seeing the horses that humans rode.
A creaking noise echoed through the stable as he slowly opened the door, peering inside. The soft sounds of horses shifting positions on their hooves and chewing their hay greeted him and he slipped inside. Truly, the animals were much larger than he'd expected. He'd never gotten very close to a horse in Modern-Earth. They stared at him from their big long faces as he walked from stall to stall until something caught his attention.
It was a horse, in pieces. But it wasn't a horse. It was something silver, with wiring and joints. Aran's eyes widened, and he moved towards it, looking around as if something would spring out and bite him. Quietly, he examined the mechanic equine, sitting down and pulling the leg that wasn't attached yet towards himself. He bent the joints slowly, watching how they worked and comparing how he knew real equines to move. The leg losing his attention, he moved on to the head that was laying aside.
To him, the head looked sad where it was laying. Catching his breath, he reached out and touched it, surprised when it jiggled slightly at his touch as if it would tip and fall. So he moved closer, examining and wondering why it was here. Cautiously, he reached for two of the wires, and touched them together. There was a whirring sound, then a grinding before he had to pull his fingers away and drop the wires due to the shock it was giving him. Sucking his fingers, he continued to examine the metallic horse, eventually discovering the flying contraption also hosted in the stable.
