STOP BEING STUPID
Evidently this guy from Arizona thought it would be funny to get on the floor of Congress and lie his lying ass off. Because he is a liar. I guess I should have expected this on several fronts. 1. Politicians lie. 2. Statistics lie. 3. Arizona sucks. 4. No-one who doesn't get laid frequently or actually is a woman thinks that any woman should be able to avoid a horrid and painful death. I should mollify my second statement. Statistics lie the same way guns kill if you also added in a clause where a kid saying "bang bang, I shot you," regularly resulted in fatality. Statistics make great weapons because like weapons, they are not person specific. You can manipulate them to say whatever you damn well please provided that you can crunch the numbers, but you can also just fabricate them. And technically, this guy didn't do the cool number fucking that the true asshole engages in. Nah. He just flat out lied.
And he did not lie just a little bit. Nah. The actual stat is that Planned Parenthood's services consist of a bunch of stuff of which abortions make up 3%. So he just said that "well over 90%" of Planned Parenthood's services are abortions. Because that's what I learned in arithmetic too. 90 totally equals three. No difference.
Not cool dude. Not cool. One of my friends goes around saying that the Republican standpoints basically boil down to "I got mine jack." And for some time I naively disagreed. But ... Now I'm actually taking it one step further. I feel like with this whole budget thing that they're attempting a hostile takeover the same way you would for a company. You get the employees pissed off by taking away their rights and most of their livlihood, you drive down the stock whilst quietly buying as much of it as you can at the now lowered price and then you force everyone else to sell to you. Not much difference between a hostile takeover and what the crazy conservatives are doing to the country.
But possible paranoia aside, what they're doing to Planned Parenthood will cost lives. You know, actual lives. Of people who's bodies weigh around 100 lbs. Do you know how much it costs to raise a girl to adolescence or adulthood? Humanistic concerns aside its just not economically feasible to kill a woman rather than provide medical assistance and preventative care. Even with the worst possible complications and most expensive treatments the person's life still costs more. So you let a woman die you are throwing away at least a million dollars. And that's if she ate craptastic food all her life, went to public schools, and was never on a sports team. I get that conservatives are selfish in bed and hate women, but they've gotta get over it because ... well ... more girls and women were killed in the last century than in any genocide including the Holocaust just for the crime of not having a dick and ... if you spend that much money on a person to get them to adulthood and then kill them you really don't get to make the argument that it was economically feasible. Get a fucking life. And frankly ... guys complain all the time about everything being a sausage fest but ... if you would stop actively killing women you might like the ratio better.
Oh yeah, but the argument is women can go elsewhere for healthcare. Like Walgreens. There's a guy outside the Berkeley Walgreens who advertises chiropractic services, but he's missing an eye, smells like pee, and has a strange compulsion to end every sentence with "buuuuddy?" Long story short, Walgreens does not offer healthcare preventative or otherwise. You might say women can go to a hospital for healthcare but again ... nice try. Hospitals cost money as do doctors. And the people who have been hit hardest by increasing insurance rates are women. Hospitals won't turn away people seeking pretty much any kind of care, but if you don't have insurance the rate becomes astronomical. And by astronomical I mean 10 times or more. This is not just because normally insurance pays the bulk of it. No. The rates actually hardcore increase if you do not have insurance. So sure any woman can go to a hospital and get a procedure done or get checked for STDs or cancer or whatever, but she'll pay for it for the rest of her life. On top of that even if you do have health insurance ... you should see what those bastards squirm their way out of. I was mad that birth control wasn't covered by health plans when viagra was ... but most plans don't even cover maternity and they CERTAINLY don't cover abortion. Furthermore, if you buy the maternity plan after you get pregnant and they catch you they are totally justified in completely dropping you. And that's really not that difficult to figure out. So you're screwed if you do and you're screwed if you don't. What really gets me about this is I'm supposed to buy maternity coverage, abortion coverage, and a few others just because I have a uterus. Guys don't have to pay for this stuff unless they add a woman they fully expect to get preggers onto their own plan. So a guy pays for insurance he gets this nice cushy rate, he impregnates some girl and just walks away. No problem. He can have all the sex he wants with no shame no financial repercussions, nothing to worry about unless she issues a paternity suit and ... be realistic, most women don't actually do that. The girl on the other hand, has to balance being able to pay rent with exorbitant insurance rates for a weird possibility and if she decides she can't afford it and she gets pregnant or contracts an STD or cancer ... she has zero recourse. If she doesn't engage in sex she's frigid, if she does she's a slut, if she gets pregnant she's financially crippled, and in no situation can she expect to get preventative care for herself or any offspring.
Planned Parenthood is the very last line of defense. There is literally nothing else. I'm one of the people at risk if that goes away because I cannot afford medical insurance. The rates for a guy in my health I could afford ... easily. But I cannot afford their rates for a woman in my health or with my childbearing or sexual potential. Don't give me that "well pregnancy is a woman issue." No, it takes two to tango. Unless I'm turkey bastering things, it's not a "woman issue." Guys get clamydia, HIV, herpes, etc too. Where the hell do you think women get that stuff from? They can damn well either pay their fair share or at the very least stop clamoring to close the one and only place where people can get treated for this.
And this is so weird because I know most assholes are relegated to SoCal (couldn't resist). There are plenty of feminist guys out there who are totally willing to fight for women's rights and help secure things like healthcare for everyone. And as a result those guys get laid a LOT. Just sayin'. I dunno about the gay ones but the one's who are into girls are constantly getting it on. So where are the creepy misogynists on the Right coming from? I know Nazi boy hated women, but from what I hear he was also kinda last resort and didn't score many points with the girls he did catch so I kinda assumed his sexual ineptness had transfigured into hate of women.
