Mito (Part 1)

Yesterday I wanted to go to Nikko, but decided it was too far away. I`ve been reading Waldon, and this gave me an unusual mood: I wanted to go to a "natural" place. I ended up in Mito, which is not very natural, but has a beautiful lake and Japanese gardens.

This is the river I walked down to get to the lake

The lake, with grass lining the shore and blowing in the wind.

A pink dinosaur (?) and traditional swan paddleboats to take out on the lake.

Once I got to the end of the lake, I turned left and went over a long bridge, and up a zigzag path to the top of the hill. This shrine was at the top of the hill. It was very peaceful.

Gates (forgot the Japanese name for them) to enter a special shrine of a god.

I love these gates...I took the picture at an angle just because...

touristy, pics, reading
