I have to write this down before I forget all the little things that happened today!
yurusanai_yatsu and
seraphin_kaegan met earlier and waited in line to make a reservation at Swallowtail (for those unenlightened it is a famous butler cafe in Ikebukuro). Thank you so much you two for doing that! It was really cold I bet. I got there at 10am, and soon after
aoisorae did. After we made a reservation, we went to animate, where yurusanai_yatsu lost her animate virginity. XD I love Ikebukuro's animate, because it's geared towards fujoshi. hehe.
The reservation was for 11:50 (I think), so when it came time we went down into the basement and sat, nervously (at least I was) until our butler Murasaki-san came to escort us into a small room with a huge mirror on one wall, where they took our purses and coats. They carried our purses (poor Murasaki-san, with at least 3 of the 4 purses) into the tea room, where there were chandelier and curtained booths, darkwood tables and victorian-style upholstered chairs. Seriously, this place was elegantly decorated.
And then...the butlers did everything but spoon feed us: they pulled out the chairs when we sat down, called us ojou-sama (which has various meanings from "lady" all the way up to "princess"), placed a napkin in our laps, poured the tea, refilled our tea, filled and refilled our water glasses, escorted us to the bathroom, and in general hovered behind us, watching to see if we needed anything, looking kakkoi and hot. Yeah, I stared at them a lot....*hides*
yurusanai_yatsu and seraphin_kaegan got a strawberry desert set that had cake with two figurines made of sugar on the top (a little kid and a dog). They said they were too cute to eat. I got the "Romeo" set (rofl at the name) which consisted of a panini sandwich, salad, cake, and a beef torte, along with tea. I picked Harrods no. 14 tea, just because it sounded posh. On a related note, I felt like I failed at eating properly with a fork and knife, since salad is horrible to eat in general, and the torte's crust would crumble all over the place. At one point some of it flew into my lap (thankfully covered by a napkin) and I was really hoping the butler wasn't hovering behind me at that point, clucking to himself at my outrageous behavior. The only other thing which was FAIL was that Murasaki-san put my tea on the right, which was extremely awkward since I'm left-handed and I had to move it over to the left eventually. Bulters should observe what hand their ojou-samas use!
The interesting thing also about Swallowtail is that they have themed deserts according to what anime is popular. This month the special desert was named "lydia" which is a character from Hakushaku to Yousei (Earl and Fairy). It seemed appropriate since the anime is set in victorian England, and the butlers here were dressed in victorian attire. seraphin_kaegan and aoisorae said there was a kuroshitsuji desert which they failed to get earlier this fall, which is sad. :( Maybe they'll have another one, since the anime has "butler" in the title, lol.
After the cafe, we went to nice nice cheap k-books and animate again. I couldn't resist suzu's photobook...mwah. *stares at cute photos* and then to 3 hours of karaoke (last time it was 5, lol, so it seemed short this time). It was a very lovely day, and we have to meet again before Christmas, ok you guys? :D
