cosplaying at comiket (day 3)

So, this was an entirely new experience, which I'm not sure will be repeated because it was just so...strange. Let's see, to start out, a friend and I met at about 9:15, and walked around 2 blocks in a big square to get back to the end of the line. I'd decided to cosplay as Maka from Soul Eater, because she has similar hair and eyes to me, and her outfit wasn't too hard to get. We got into the building at around 10:30, and then I had to find the girl's dressing room. This was almost the strangest part of the day. You pay your 800 yen (rip-off) and go into this huge room where about 50 women/girls are in various stages of dressing up in their costumes. Right in front of everyone. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, considering that people bathe together in onsen, but...
After I got dressed, and regular clothes packed up away in my small carry-on suitcase, I got pushed from line to line and ended up in the cosplay area, far away from where my friend was waiting (looking at *cough*porn*cough* doujin). He'd tried to persuade his girlfriend to come, but she wouldn't. haha. After we met up, he gave me a lesson in tying my tie, which I was very bad at and took 3 times to get decent. With that done, he took 2 photos of me, and that's when things got quite interesting.
You see, when people walk by a person taking a picture of someone in a costume, it seems they suddenly have the urge to take a picture as well. When my friend was finished, there was about 15 minutes non-stop of guys with cameras saying "just one photo" and ending up taking 5 million, while you're holding your pose and thinking things like, "yeah, kneeling on the ground so you can get a shot up my skirt" and "you have horrible teeth" and "come on, why don't you get a better hobby." All not very flattering things. During this time, I also got interviewed 3 times, twice by people with video cameras, and once for some student publication thing. The student girl was so adorable, and we talked about Gintama and Soul Eater and she showed me pictures. It was cute. She said she wanted a sensei like me. :) Pic of me and her:

Once I got away from the strange people, I started to take pictures of cool cosplayers myself, while my friend kindly watched the suitcase. These are some of the pics I got:

The naruto cosplayers kept saying I was cute the whole time I took their photo, lol.
Then I found Death the Kidd, and made friends with him (her).
I took a picture with him/her, and I had a foreigner take it (luckily he was nearby). He asked me who I was cosplaying, and if it was just a manga. Sad! Must share the Soul Eater love!
Then I hit the jackpot, and found not only Liz and Patty (cosplayed by some Italians), but also Shinigami-sama, and took a picture with them:

And also one with Stein-hakase:

There were some quite weird ones, like the westerner cross-dressing in a school girl's outfit, another Lavi, Okita (with eye mask), Hibari and Mukuro (I think) in a BL pose, but I'll let you look at those yourself here All in all, a very fun day. I expect to embarrass my students when I tell them about it. *evil laugh* Ugh my bangs are awful in the pics, because it was rainy that day and my hair wilts in the rain (especially my bangs). This is why my bangs look horrible. The End.
