There's something kind of intimidating about this. I think that's why I didn't make any entries earlier this month. Well, anyway...
Happy New Year, all.
I'm in school once again, although I'm only taking one class this semester. But it's a biggie, so I'm still full time. Technically. I don't know for sure yet if I've been putting in enough time though.
Working 2 days a week at the deli, which I'm still enjoying. And getting a little bit of income, which is always appreciated. I think I'm making about enough to cover rent, give or take a couple hours. Actually I just did a little calculation.. evidently if I work 50h/month I'm exactly $10 short of covering my rent. Mind you, that's not including groceries or bills. Oh well.
I'm taking yoga with mom this semester. I've had 2 classes so far. I kind of like it, and it's nice to think I'm doing something healthy. Mom got me a health-food cookbook, which I'm supposed to cook out of at least once a week. I've made 2 different soups from it which were rather tasty. It's a little tough to keep up, just because the recipes all call for a lot of fresh ingredients that you don't always have lying around, and a lot of prep time. Mom, Erin and I were supposed to have a battle of the workouts (or something) but mom and I haven't really been keeping up with that, aside from weekly yoga. Erin is kicking our collective butts. Which I think means we owe her a dinner out this month, or something. I can't remember the exact parameters of the deal.
I've had a lot of "fun" this week with my photo class... Originally I had planned to do "anonymous self-portraits" for my project this semester, but after a shooting session, I was running out of ideas and the project didn't seem to be going anywhere. Although I did get a few neat Magritte-esque shots which please me.
See here. So anyway, I decided to change my project to a continuation of the homes project I did a while back, and I'm shooting the stuff I'm storing in mom's basement. First time I shot it, I lugged a big ol' lighting kit home from school (2 strobe heads, 2 large stands, 2 umbrellas, power pack and all assorted cords and sundry items) only to forget to take the dark slide out of my camera before I shot the film. (In laymans terms, there was a metal sheet between the film and the lens of the camera, so nothing got exposed) Of course I didn't realise this until after I'd developed the roll of film. Because I'm a moron.
ANYWAY... Second time I shot the stuff, I just decided to use Erin's little strobe (I've never used it before) but the problem this time was that when I finished the roll of film, it wasn't wound all the way up before I tried to take it out of the camera, so it got a nasty light leak, making all of the negatives foggy and useless. So once more I shot using Erin's strobe and I was very careful to make sure the dark slide was not in the camera, and that the film didn't get any unwanted exposure to light.. And I finally got something I can work with.
I don't know, I just feel like at this point in my "career" I shouldn't be making this kind of stupid mistakes. *sigh*
Anyway, I think that's entirely enough rambling for one day. See you again next month..!
