I think I first started liking green peas because of Mendel and his heterohenous bean experiments. ^_^
I've never made kimchi myself. I've sort of helped my mom make kimchi before, though. I'd say kimchi is not hard to make, but it's hard to make it right.
Oh yes! I almost forgot abt Mendel and his experiments. Its amazing he was only a monk then...
Im so crazy abt korean food now. There's not much variety in Singapore (I suspect Im not knowledgeble enough abt the good restaurants over here) and I always see such delicious dishes on TV programmes!!!! What is yr fav korean dish???
I like anything that my mom cooks. Anything. Really. She's the greatest cook in the whole wide world.
Just to name a few, I like pickled garlic (ma-nl jjang-a-chi), cool water noodles a.k.a cold buckwheat noodles (mool-neg-myun), and beef marrow soup (gom-tang). I also like beanpaste soup (dwen-jang-gook) and kimchi stew (kimchi-jji-ge).
Wah thanks!!!! I've eaten cold buckwheat noodles in japan before (soba), but Im not big on it. And beef marrow soup.... Indians here in Singapore like to suck on pork marrow; I'll often see them with huge bones, mouths latching onto it, and suck suck suck. Looks quite gross... :P
Pickled garlic... sounds nice. I actually like garlic a lot, although pple say it gives u bad breath but its good for the body and anti-cancer..
Haha. I've never seen people actually sucking on bone marrows. The Korean soup just has the broth from bones and meat, and sometimes joints. It's mild and tasty.
I know, garlic is full of bad breath-causing things... but if you know you're going to be tucked in at home for the night, no harm will be done to the public air. The nice thing about pickled garlic is that it loses all of its hotness/sting, and gets a sour/spiky(?) flavor, which only pickled food can get, instead. It's a good way to make little kids eat garlic, I think.
And yr dinner is so darn healthy. No wonder Im so fat now... but I hate green peas!!! I like bean sprouts though. :P

You can google up a recipe site, but I don't know how feasible the recipes would be outside of Korea. Here's one with pictures, though:
