Ilsan Lake Park

Jun 06, 2006 02:45

On June 1st, mom, dad & I - and Mimi - went out for some... air, I think. We've been doing a lot of that recently. Took tons of pictures, too. So we went to Ilsan Lake Park. (That's ilsan, not iisan.) Long story short, here are pictures.

Elementary history of Ilsan Lake Park according to arandomstudent:
Ilsan now is a mainly residential city with high-rise, quality apartments. Ilsan used to be just fields and rice paddies, but once there was a great flood (not that flood), and smart people got together and planned out the city, plus the lake, as a desirable suburbia to disperse the population concentrated in Seoul. Unlike some other planned cities, Ilsan is a great success. I'd say that the lake park (planned & man-made) is one of the main factors that attract people to Ilsan... it does things to land values and stuff.

Although Ilsan is commonly called "city," it is "goo" (a smaller unit) technically. Ilsan-Goo is inside Goyang-Si. ("Si" means City.)

The park is a very nice place! There is no entrance fee, but there is a very small fee for parking. I've been there a few times before, and I like it better each time. The park is too big for me to see all of it in one day, but bikers could do it. There is a bicycle path (red) that goes around the park. The people path (green) is right beside it, and is covered with slightly softer concrete(?) that's easy on your feet and joints.
There are bicycles (1 person, 2 people, family-sized) available for rent. The entire park is almost completely wheelchair & baby stroller friendly. Pets-on-leash are welcome, too, but nothing solid should be left behind, if you get what I mean.

I heard that there is a "singing fountain" that performs on weekend and hot summer nights, but I've no idea where it is. ^_^

Overall, the park is a nice place to take a walk or have a picnic.

I went up to the second floor in that gazebo. I could see stuff up there. Like the lake, for example. And lots of greenery.

There were lots of lotus flowers in some parts of the lake.

Rose is a symbol of Koyang-Si, which is known for nurseries and flowers. In June, there are roses blooming everywhere. There is a special Rose Garden in the park!

I like the yellow roses. I like yellow.

So pretty pretty, and so many different types of roses.

More roses.

That's it! It may not look like much, but picking the pictures and editing them took a long time. I used over 40 pictures for this post alone, and there are still more pictures of other places I want to show. For now, I need sleep.
