AKA: "dawn_felagund is evol and may not get her bday present now." (Yes, I know it's 3 months late, but it's almost done.)

The Rules: The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "Five Holiday Traditions" and people who get tagged need to write a LiveJournal entry about their five holiday traditions as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next five people to be tagged.

My Five Holiday Traditions

1. Shopping with the Sibs: Every year, for the past 4 years, I would say, my brother, my sister, my husband and I go shopping. We pick a day in December (usually a Saturday) and make a whole day of it. (Last year involved Laser Tag as well as shopping, thanks to vixzentales's boyfriend). We shop, we eat lunch, we shop, we eat dinner, we shop, we go home and we pass out. It's a nice day for us to all get together.

2. Ornament Exchange: I belong to the local alum group of the sorority I belonged to in college. In December we have our annual ornament exchange. We all get together, eat appetizers and dessert, drink wine (well, not me this year) and generally catch up on each other's lives. We each bring a $10 ornament, and then we pick numbers and then pick ornaments. It's a lot of fun.

3. Decorating: The day after Thanksgiving (black Friday), the hubby and I pull out all the Christmas ornaments, decorations and the tree, and spend all day decorating. The Christmas CDs come out and we listen to all kinds of Christmas music. (Tip: N*Sync Christmas, no matter how good an idea it sounds like, is just baaaaad.) We then go out to eat, since neither of us feels like cooking after a whole day of decorating.

4. Baking: I bake. A lot of cookies. I love baking and cooking, I just don't usually have time. For the holidays, I make time (otherwise irate relatives demand cookies I don't have to give them). This dates back to when I was little. My mom used to bake all day one day. We only made "oil cookies" as kids (which were awesome and you used cookie cutters to make cool shapes). I make all kinds of cookies: pressed butter cookies, neopolitan cookies, sugar cookies, pumpkin cookies, chocolate chip cookies. It's cookie madness in my house.

5. Christmas Eve: At my parents, there is always fish on Christmas Eve: Pasta with shrimp sauce, shrimp cocktail, breaded & fried shrimp, breaded & fried sole, whiting, bacala (or something like that). Then we go to Church. Then we drive around and look at lights. In recent years, before dinner we open presents, since we sometimes spend Christmas with my in-laws.
