RED! And linkspam.
So, 
deannawol took me to see RED which I highly recommend to everyone.
So, it's a fairly straight-forward plot and storywise there isn't that much that's really noteworthy but it's a Warren Ellis story so it makes up for the relatively bland plot with some very awesome characters.
Bruce Willis' Frank Moses is...honestly, I found him profoundly bland. He's the blank slate protagonist who 'wants his life back' and who is eager to adapt to being a civilian. Likewise, Sarah who is our relatable character/love has very little to make her a dynamic or appealing character. I do give her points for not being completely passive or a scream-queen 'heroine' which is the Hollywood trope that smashes my suspension of disbelief and wakes up my inner frothing femminist who screams right back (with more profanity).
Both of them lack defining character moments of their own but are the the cause of some truly wonderful moments in other characters. The secondary characters don't so much steal the show as hot-wire it, go street-racing and stunt-driving into the sunset with it.
Helen Mirren's character is awesome, hands-down my absolute favourite character in the whole thing. She is bloody marvellous and god, I would pay to see a whole film centered on Victoria. ♥_♥
Honourable mention to John Malkovich as Marvin and Brian Cox as Ivan who were both perfect, magnificent bastards who I would want on my side.
Seriously go see it. It is well worth seeing.

I used most of the techniques from the last link to deal with Stephen Fry being a prat, dropping several million cool points and once more making me want ten minutes of uninterrupted rant-at time with him. Honestly, Stephen? In the 21st century, you are telling me that you seriously believe women only see sex as a gateway to a relationship? SERIOUSLY?
Still, it could be worse. I could be this unfortunate gentleman. I want a tattoo before my next birthday but after that,

maeritrae are getting brought along to oversee the work being done.
