I think that it's high time I introduce you all to my apartment.
I can't compete with the beautiful shots of Vancouver from Porter's new apartment's windows, but I've got an icon known the world over that I can spy from my bathroom window. So, beat that! And, I can see two towers with pyramid-shaped roofs that light up at night and whose colors change almost nightly.
I moved into this apartment a little over a month ago and I'm loving it. Unlike all you new apartment dwellers, I've lucked out or not (depending) by not having to shop for furniture. Since I moved into an already occupied 2-bedroom apartment, most of the furniture was already there. I paid a small sum for the contents of my room and just like that I was furnished. The apartment's best feature is the bathroom which has a window from which you can see the top of the Empire State Building.
My housemate, Urszula, is great. She only moved to the city a year ago but she's known NY for quite awhile. So, she's a treasure trove of information about places to go and restaurants to dine at. We get along very well.
I set my sights on finding an apartment in Manhattan and luckily I did just that. Just like almost anywhere else in Manhattan, the apartment is surrounded by restaurants from all over the world. I've also got grocery stores around the corner, a huge movie theater steps away, a small branch of the library a couple of blocks away, and the obligatory bagel shops right there. So far I've had Mexican, American, Tibetan, Chinese, and Italian food.
I just love it here.
