I was happy to see one of my favorite Brooklyn bands in my [relatively] new left coast neighborhood. The Menahan Street Band (featuring members of Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Budos Band, etc.) are ever-reliable with bringing the tightest bad-ass grooves you'll ever see on stage. Charles Bradley was in rare form tonight, his screams cutting through the walls of the venue… He even busted out a stage dive!
I'm always inspired by Charles Bradley's performances. He's had a rough life and is on his FIRST TOUR EVER after 61 years of hard knocks. He expresses genuine love and affection for his adoring audience and certainly deserves every hoot and holler outta them. Real soul singing, up close and personal.
