During the opening portion of the event, the Kyary Kids put on a splendid dance for the audience while Kyary appeared from behind doors set up on the stage. When asked about her outfit in the talk session following her flashy entrance, Kyary answered, “The theme of my outfit is that I’ve become an ‘Ice no Mi’.” She also revealed that the design outfit, a colorful and poppy one with many small balls attached to it, was created in conjunction with her stylist: Kyary gave her opinions and ideas to her stylist, who then made her ideas into reality.
When asked about her song “Mi”, which has been adopted as the background music for Kyary’s latest commercial, the singer responded, “It’s a shocking song with a chorus that only has me saying ‘mi mi-mi-mi’. Mr. Nakata Yasutaka made it for this ‘Ice no Mi’ commercial, and I think it’ll sear itself into your ears because of how shocking it is.” It was also revealed by Kyary that the narration for the commercial also only uses the syllable ‘mi’, and that she thought of the pose where she holds the product herself.
In addition to the talk session, it was also announced that an iPhone/iPad ‘Ice no Mi’ app will be released along with the commercial. The app will change anything the user says into the sound ‘mi’, spoken with Kyary’s voice. “Ice no Mi-x Machines” will also be raffled away for those who buy the ‘Ice no Mi’ products. “Just like the name implies, this is an amazing machine you can use to mix the ice together and make your own original ice,” then proceeded to turn on the machine while introducing various ‘ice recipes’. When the ice was finished mixing, she tasted it and exclaimed with a smile on her face, “It’s super yummy!”
The campaign will be held from July 1 to August 31.
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu to sing theme song for Japanese release of 'Star Trek Into Darkness'
Japanese pop singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, 20, has been chosen by director J.J. Abrams to provide the theme song for the Japanese release of his new film, “Star Trek Into Darkness,” which opens in Japan on Aug 23.
The song, “Into Darkness,” was produced by Japanese music producer Yasutaka Nakata, 33, and the director himself (Abrams has experience producing music for the American TV show “Lost”). He said he chose Kyary Pamyu Pamyu because she perfectly fits the song’s image, Sankei Shimbun reported.
The singer, known for her cute fashion style, completed a successful tour across America, Europe and Asia earlier this year.
To promote “Star Trek Into Darkness” internationally, Abrams did similar collaborations with musicians from six countries to produce a different theme song for each version. Nakata said: “It was like exploring an unknown world. As a musician, it was a great experience.”
