In the singles chart, the unit formed by SMAP's Katori Shingo and soloist, Yamashita Tomohisa called The MONSTERS have reached the no.1 spot with "MONSTERS." The title track is the theme song for the TBS drama starring both Katori and Yamashita aired every Sunday also titled "MONSTERS." The last time a unit from a drama series topped the chart was 6 years and 1 month ago with "Seaside. Bye Bye" (October 2006) by Kisarazu Cat's Eye feat. MCU, consisting of V6's Okada Junichi, Arashi's Sakurai Sho, Okada Yoshinori, Sato Ryuta, Tsukamoto Takashi and KICK THE CAN CREW's MCU. As for the last time a single by a drama unit surpassed the 150k mark was 7 years and 1 month ago with "Seishun Amigo" (November 2005) by Shuji to Akira, a unit consisting of Yamashita and KAT-TUN's Kamenashi Kazuya.
Meanwhile, popular idol group, AKB48 have achieved the top 2 rankings in both music-DVD and overall DVD charts simultaneously with "AKB48 in TOKYO DOME -1830m no Yume- Special Box" and "AKB48 in TOKYO DOME -1830m no Yume- SINGLE SELECTION" respectively. The footage was filmed from their first Tokyo Dome concert in August this year. The last time a female act has achieved the top 2 rankings in the chart was Hamasaki Ayumi with "ayumi hamasaki concert tour 2000 A dai 1 maku" and "ayumi hamasaki concert tour 2000 Dou dai 2 maku" (September 2000), 12 years and 2 months ago. For a female group however, this is the first time. AKB48 have now surpassed Morning Musume with the most no.1 music-DVDs (7). Among female acts, the group stand at 3rd place behind Utada Hikaru and Koda Kumi, both tied with 8 no.1 music-DVDs. The Blu-Ray version of the live DVD will be released on 19th of December this year.

Congrats to Mr.Children! More than 500k sold in the first week for every studio album since Atomic Heart. That's more than 18 years! Very very impressive! XD
Also congrats to UVERworld, though I would love for them to sell over 100k. And Yuming just killing it! Also glad that Kobukuro still managed to snatch no.2 despite BOYFRIEND having an event, and props to FLOWER for entering the top 10 and selling more than their previous single despite it being a remake. :)
