Holding of Global Festa Japan 2011
September 28, 2011
  1. 'Global Festa Japan 2011' will be held on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2 in Tokyo (Hibiya Park).
  2. This event, originally titled 'International Cooperation Festival', is considered the largest event on international cooperation in Japan and has been co-organized every year since 1990 by the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC).
The name of the event was changed to the 'Global Festa Japan' in 2005 to encourage the young generation and those who are not familiar with international cooperation to join in, and this year marks the 21st year that the festival has been held since its start as the 'International Cooperation Festival'.
  3. The theme this year is 'KIZUNA: the bonds that tie us together - Japan and the world join hands', which aims to allow festival goers to look back over the assistance received from countries around the world following the Great East Japan Earthquake and to create a place where people can again feel the deep bonds that tie Japan and the world together.

[Notes]

(1) As a special attraction, the 'Fill Hibiya Park with Paintings of "KIZUNA" Project' will be held. Here, drawings and messages of encouragement delivered from countries around the world, pictures drawn by children in the
affected areas under the themes 'Me 10 years from now' and 'Thank you for the support for the world', as well as pictures drawn by children in developing countries that were collected by Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers will be placed on exhibit (the main exhibition space will be at the 'Road to Strengthening Bonds' at the Second Flower Garden at the center of the park).
(2) More than 280 groups concerned with international cooperation including government agencies, NGOs, international organizations, and embassies, are scheduled to participate in the event. A tent of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be set up and called 'the Corner for expression of your appreciation to the world', where visitors can express their feelings of gratitude for the assistance and messages of encouragement received from countries around the world following the disaster.
