After coming away the victors in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup on July 17th, the women of Nadeshiko Japan were asked which songs they played to get themselves warmed up for the final match of the season.

Defender Sameshima Aya stated that the artist she listened to the most before their big game was Naoto Inti Raymi, who has recently had several big hits like “Takaramono ~Kono Koe ga Naku Naru Made~” and “Ima no Kimi wo Wasurenai“. She also commented that couldn’t go without Amuro Namie, and is a big fan of DREAMS COME TRUE. Midfielder Sakaguchi Mizuho is said to have listened to songs by Mr. Children and Ohguro Maki.

Kawasumi Nahomi - who scored two points during the semifinals in Sweden - replied that the artists who gave her power were aiko and Arashi. Kawasumi is said to be a particularly huge fan of aiko, the cheerful singer-songwriter whose songs have made the nation smile for over a decade. Kawasumi’s roommate Iwashimizu Azusa is also a big Arashi fan, so the two are said to have played an Arashi DVD on their television every single day.

Other celebrities, such as Olympic gold medalist Takahashi Naoko and figure skater Ando Miki, also revealed songs they liked to hear before their big meets. Takahashi is said to be fond of hitomi’s hit song “LOVE 2000“, while Ando is inspired by ayaka’s debut single “I believe“.

What song gets you ready for that big day?
