Today it was revealed that popular techno-pop trio Perfume will make an audible appearance in Disney Pixar’s “Cars 2” as well as on its official soundtrack.
It was decided to use the trio’s hit song “Polyrhythm” as one of the film’s background songs, and it won’t be just limited to its Japanese release. The song will also be included on the official soundtrack CD that will be released worldwide in June, thus making it their world debut in some sort.
In “Cars 2″, star racecar Lightning McQueen and the incomparable tow truck Mater take their friendship to exciting new places when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. “Polyrhythm” will sooth your ears when the friends decide to party in town the night before their race in Japan.
A while ago it was announced on the official Japanese website of the film that they were searching for a nice Japanese song for that scene and apparently many people recommended Perfume’s song to the production team. The producers and directors liked it as well and were delighted to find such a great fitting song.
It is common for Japanese artists to provide songs for the Japanese releases of films, but only a few Japanese artists have been included in international versions of non-Japanese films. A great honor for Perfume and a great opportunity to become known outside of Japan and the realm of J-Pop fans.
