Erm, I honestly don't know, but all Arashi-members have said several times that they use the train like "normal" people.

I guess they will not do it too often (I'm sure they have drivers, who drive them around a lot!), but there are quite a lot of paparazzi photos, in which you can see them walking around on the streets and places that look like subway stations!

there was a politician who wrote in his blog few months back that arashi sat opposite him on the subway

Japanese fans actually have a kind of unwritten rule that if their idol gets on the same train carriage as the one they're on, they're supposed to leave. I heard that a few years back and I don't know if it's true, but it's always possible.
